We all dream of a free and democratic China. It's never going to happen as long as their ruling Party is rewarded whether they operate poorly or not.

They are piggybacking off of the Olympics. Just wait until 2022.

CBC’s normally chatty hosts were uncharacteristically tight-lipped as Team Hong Kong entered the Tokyo 2020 opening ceremony, introduced by announcers as “Hong Kong, China.” Rather than offer up any substantive commentary, they simply went with, “Hm. Interesting.”

Of course, they could’ve mentioned how China all but did away with “one country, two systems” last year, severely reducing the city’s autonomy and passing a National Security Law (NSL) that threatens to violate freedoms not just domestically, but globally. Or how the parade of nations has become a propaganda vehicle for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to legitimize its version of the world map on the international stage.

I've heard many demanding that the Olympics ban any sort of protesting (even though there has been very little) thereby violating freedoms.
