Ryan Says

Well, I guess you could just call them the "Freedom" tax breaks, tell everyone that they'll "help fight terrorism" and then get some corporate backing for an advertising campaign from the Koch brothers.

Of course, it won't actually accomplish anything, except to make you all feel better about your class warfare...

Don't forget "Trickle Down"

The suckers always buy that one

The Republican strategy is to appeal to wealthier Americans, which they believe (because of the power of money in our election process) are person for person worth more politically than not-wealthy Americans. The power of money offsets the power of the number of individual potential voters.

Doesn't it embarrass you to type something like that?

It's absolutely true. The Citizen's United decision has made the strategy even more appealing.

Obama's deficit for this year alone is over $1.7 trillion. That's three times the cost of Bush's Medicare program over 12 years.

So now who is the one on the spending spree?

Democrat spending sprees?? lol

Paul Ryan voted for the 2003 Medicare prescription drug plan, 550 billion just through 2015;

does he plan on paying for that spending spree?

How about the Bush wars, does he plan on paying for those?

Reality check: You're the one advocating treating the wealthy differently then other Americans...

You dispute the premise that flattening the income tax structure favors the wealthy, compared to the current situation, compared to 50 years ago? 40? 30?

really?? lol

All advocacy organizations, both left and right, both Democrat supporting and Republican supporting, absolutely solicit wealthier Americans to kick in campaign support dollars because wealthier Americans have the most to contribute. And they ALL are well aware of the power of money in the process. Which is why the media is so fascinated by who has raised however much money for his/her campaign chest and who spends whatever on his/her campaign.

But the rich man's vote counts no more than the poor man's vote.

And that has what to do with the tax code that this thread is about?

That's funny. The cost of Medicare part D, which Bush and the Republicans never paid for, now goes on the so-called Obama deficit.

Right, to NOT take money from the rich is "class warfare." Liberal word games, I do so enjoy those...

Since the rich get a much larger benefit from the existing infrastructure in the form of transportation of goods, protection of corporate interests, etc, etc, then not taking more money from the rich IS class warfare, yes.

Conservative word games are also enjoyable.

Since it was 1.2 Trillion when Obama took office, and the 1.7 trillion figure includes one time stimulus spending, that statement is inaccurate to say the least.

I'm all for it

Let the rich pay for all the infrastructure they make their fortune off of. Let them buy the land for roads, build ports, communication satellites,

Let them pay to educate their workers from age 5

Let them pay for the military that defends their interests abroad

Let them pay to plow the roads in the winter and patch them in the summer

You'll have to pay us to use the roads, You'll have to pay us back for educating your moronic children,

We won't need a military.. you can walk

Fine by me...I will pay for the roads I use. Let business pay for all the roads for all their supplies and product to come in and go out. Let them pay for the roads their customers need to reach them

Why should I pay to educate children that businesses will make a profit off of them? Let them teach their workers to read and write. If they need doctors or lawyers, let them educate them

I don't need a Military outside of the Continental US. The military abroad protects the interests of the business community. Let them pay for it

So if there weren't businesses, who would you work for? If your answer is government, where are they going to get the money to pay you?

Your view that businesses and the "rich" owe you special treatment because they provide you with jobs and our government with taxes and that no one owes them a damned thing is just...typical of your lack of grasp of the situation. Companies are the engine of our economy. Without that, it's like trying to drive your car without an engine. The engine doesn't owe gratitude to the breaks, car seats, steering wheel etc. with nothing coming back as you envision.

Businesses profit off of the socialist aspects of our society to a higher degree than working Americans. When it comes time to contribute to those socialist programs the right balks that it is not fair
Business does not "give" people jobs. They make a profit off of each and every employee

Do they? As a business owner, I set up a business and take all the risk. I pay them, set up their benefits, define their job, figure out to make a profit so we're sustainable. Without my business there is no money for any socialistic aspect of our society. They seem to be a whole heck of a lot more dependent on me then I am on them. And the government even moreso.

Who educated your employee's? Who provided the ports, rail, roads so your product can get in and out? Who provides security and fire protection? Who provides a stable global environment for corporations?

Government that was funded by my business. Without my business, there would have been no economic activity with which to fund those government "services" and they do a cruddy job. Without my business, employees wouldn't have had jobs to pay taxes.

"Lower the tax rate, and broaden the tax base." I'll vote for that. How about you?

Been there, done that. It's called Trickle Down Economics and it didn't work then and it won't work now. Besides, the wealthy already pay a much lower tax rate than most of us.

Mr Buffett said that he was taxed at 17.7 per cent on the $46 million he made last year, without trying to avoid paying higher taxes, while his secretary, who earned $60,000, was taxed at 30 per cent.

How about the fair tax? The five most compelling arguments for the fair tax are:
1-Eliminates the IRS and 1040 filings.
2-Allows workers to keep all their income.
3-forces illegal aliens and foreign tourists to help support this great country.
4-Makes the USA the largest tax haven in the world.
5-Stops congress from manipulating the tax code for reelection or social engineering.
