Romney "bullying" story false

for the record, THIS is the difference between the two paragraphs...the origina and the correction... minus spin... from that well-known bastion of liberal thought, breitbart:

The original copy:

“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and has long been bothered by the Lauber incident. "But I was not the brunt of any of his pranks."

The changed copy, my emphasis:

“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and said he has been "disturbed" by the Lauber incident since hearing about it several weeks ago, before being contacted by the Washington Post. "But I was not the brunt of any of his pranks."

Washington Post Changes Story, Doesn't Admit Error

that doesn't, in any way, affect the legitimacy of the story as recited by others who were involved.

it's cute, though, how the loons believed the swiftboat liars even though they weren't on the same boat as John Kerry, but don't believe the people who actually witnessed the event.

The false narrative about Romney

The other boys there say the story was true.

You are a liar, clevergirl, and our candidate is a bully at one time.

He needs to apologize, say it was an indiscretiion of youth, and ignore it.

He cannot simply say he can't remember: no one will believe that horse shit.

I want to win, and lying is a surefire way to lose this election.

she is a liar...

and not very clever.

*edit* it was worse than him saying he doesn't remember (which is BS). he said he doesn't remember, "but doesn't recall the guy involved being gay.

yay... ok.

Even if true, this is a non-story about a harmless prank. Having grown up in the same generation, the thought that the "victim" might have been homosexual would have been totally off the radar screen of the boys doing it. They were making fun of a kid who bleached his hair blonde - absolutely normal stuff for the time.

And keep in mind, the ultimate result of the prank was that the kid would have been forced to get a short haircut - maybe even a crew cut, WHICH WAS FASHIONABLE FOR H.S. BOYS AT THE TIME. This was still before the Beatles introduced (relatively) long hair to the culture, and probably ten years before long hair would have made its way to a prep school such as this one.

This non-story says a lot more about the Non-FOX media than it does about an adolescent Mitt Romney.

Harmless?

Had anyone but Romney tried that shit..they could well be cooling their heels in the clink.

How would the right be reacting if it had been a black boy like Obama who did it?

have not found the Washington Post piece, but found this...

Romney Friend Stu White Says Campaign Wants Him to Counter Prank Accusations - ABC News
White, in an interview with ABC News, said that he is “still debating” whether he will help the campaign, remarking, “It’s been a long time since we’ve been pals.” While the Post reports White as having “long been bothered” by the haircutting incident,” he told ABC News he was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.

this appears to corroborate the OP's story.

Still looking for the edited Washington Post piece.

bullying isn't harmless. and your defending it is disgusting.

Notice this, the "witnesses" who claim the story is true and the only ones who claim it is true, are hard leftists, one of whom works for the obama campaign. Notice this, you don't hear from them anymore. They aren't defending their accounts.

This is as true as the affair John McCain had with his staffer. The democrats tried and failed to manufacture evidence and thought they had gone far enough back to do it. The obama campaign actually researched enough to find a victim who is now deceased and can't be asked directly. Fortunately, the victim's family is still around to point out what BS this is.

Thank you for producing at least a second referance to the false statement.

Did you read the whole bit?

It makes it worse for Robmoney BTW

Romney Friend Stu White Says Campaign Wants Him to Counter Prank Accusations - ABC News

One former classmate and old friend of Romney’s – who refused to be identified by name – said there are “a lot of guys” who went to Cranbrook who have “really negative memories” of Romney’s behavior in the dorms, behavior this classmate describes as “like Lord of the Flies.”

The classmate believes Romney is lying when he claims to not remember it.

“It makes these fellows [who have owned up to it] very remorseful. For [Romney] not to remember it? It doesn’t ring true. How could the fellow with the scissors forget it?” the former classmate said.

Romney apologizes for youthful hair clipping incident - CBS News Video

He admits to it..as does his wife.

where is the PROOF in that BLOG that any of what they say is correct?

Where is the proof that anything they've said in WaPo was correct? Face it. The Obama campaign is getting so desperate that they'll run with anything they think they can make a smear with. They seem to forget tho, that there is a two way street out there. If someone wants to be concerned about the character of the candidates in high school, then let's take Obama at his own word as a school skipping, angry drug user that had crappy grades his last two years in high school. How did he get into Occidental College with that kind of highschool transcript anyway?

If they changed the story to say disturbed instead of bothered that's proof that the wash post is lying? Is that a molehill a mountain?

Waaaaa

There are democrats who still believe the Rather memo is true. Fortunately this time the democrats are going to lie themselves right into a loss.
