Three children among ‘many dead’ after rocket attack in Egypt’s Sinai

At least ten people have been killed in a rocket attack struck a family home in Egypt’s North Sinai.
Medical sources have reported that the fatalities include at least three children, three women and four men. At least three other civilians have been injured.
The rocket struck a house in the south of Rafah during military operations in the area.
However, it is not clear yet whether the rocket had been fired by Egyptian military forces or militants in the area, according to AFP.
Meanwhile, AP reported that the civilians killed were from a prominent Bedouin family in the village of Negah Shabana.
The attack comes as Egypt’s military launched a massive crackdown on extremist groups in the North Sinai after attacks that have left many soldiers and police officers killed since July 2013.
The deadliest attack occurred last month and killed 34 soldiers, prompting the government to implement a buffer zone on the border with Gaza.
