I posted this concern last year just after Andy Rooney of 60 minutes brought it to my attention. Screw the petition. Make up bumper stickers with your least favorite retailers name..

    WAL MART SUCKS
    ask me why

You want to see Christmas in their advertising? Wait till day after xmas and you will see the sale ads Christmas Clearance..

    effectivly the retailers are saying..

"You stupid ass American morons,, jump through the hoop when WE tell you too,, spend your money on the overpriced crap that WE tell you to, and then force yourselves to come in and by more of this junk from us after Christmas cause WE told you to... AND YOU DO,,, BY THE MILLIONS, and then we make BILLION$$$$...."

The "American Family Association"? These people are bent so far right that they almost make James Dobson sound rational. The only "anti-Christian bias" in this country is in the minds of those who claim it exists.

If you want to do something about retailers and Christmas, why not take a real stand against the comercialization of Christmas? Instead of giving gifts this year, why not make a donation in the name of the recipient to a humanitarian organization or to Hurricane Katrina relief funds? That's the true spirit of giving and a truer rememberance of Jesus' message than giving some bauble that will be tossed aside after a short time. And it'll send a message that retailers are more certain to hear than some silly petition.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. - Matthew 25:34-36

When people remember the real message of Christmas, retailers will sit up and take notice. Especially when their cash registers are silent.

Are you sure that it's not the secularists who have tainted the true message of Christmas by turning it into a gift exchange? ( and you blame Christians for not trying to stop it? )

There's plenty of blame to go around old son, so I'm not going to waste time pointing fingers. But since Christmas DOES commemorate the birth of Christ, it seems that Christians of good conscience should be in the vanguard of those who want to reverse the commercialization of Christmas.

As I've stated before, I don't much care what the retailers do, but there is plenty of evidence coming out that those that ARE concerned, have reason to be:

You've wasted so much time pointing fingers that you don't have any left. Christians everywhere are trying to keep their religion safe from the onslaught of those determined to wipe it off the map. You may want to start working on your New Years resoutions early this year.

Listening to Michael Medved and John Gibson regarding the killing of Christmas in society. Gibson wrote a book that addresses that:
