Seems pretty obvious that there's stuff Romney doesn't want us to see. Probably nothing illegal, but almost definitely data like low effective tax rates, "rich guy" shelters, blah blah. Stuff any reasonable person would pretty much take for granted given Romney's wealth, but great ammunition for the Democrats nonetheless.

Just another thing that makes me wonder how Romney got the nomination. Did he/they somehow convince themselves that he wouldn't be expected to provide full disclosure, especially with his income, especially after The Meltdown?

No question that Romney is following the rules as they exist

The million dollar question is.....do they still need to exist? The number one priority of Republicans is to get the Bush tax cuts extended and have those cuts continue for the wealthy

If Romney paid five percent federal taxes in some of those years, he will become the poster child for why the rich need to pay more in taxes.

Romney had better carry Florida or the election will be over by 9:30 EST. Right now, he trails. Ohio is looking to be more and more out of reach along with Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. Romneys blunder of not backing the auto company bailouts will haunt him along with his perceived indifference to the middle class

Republicans slam Sen. Reid over Romney tax claim

WASHINGTON (AP) — Top Republicans on Sunday accused Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of lying by passing along an anonymous claim that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney hasn't paid taxes for 10 years.

Republican Party chairman Reince Priebus called Reid a "dirty liar." Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said, "I think he's lying about his statement of knowing something about Romney" and he contended Reid was "making things up to divert the campaign away from the real issues."

Reid's spokesman, Adam Jentleson, contended that Republicans were trying to cover up for Romney and the aide repeated the Nevada senator's claims that the source about Romney's taxes is "credible." Other Democrats said Romney could clear up any confusion about his taxes by disclosing them to the public, and the issue was a main talking point on the Sunday news shows.

Reid said last week he had learned of the claim about Romney's taxes from an investor in Romney's former firm, Bain Capital. But the lawmaker hasn't offered any evidence to back it up and even has said he's not sure it's true.
