This is always a possibility. Truth be told though, in history, I do recall a certain German leader who had prisoners dressed in Polish military uniforms to "film a movie".

As they threw molotov cocktails at the Reichstag and were shot with real bullets, it's allowed an excuse for something far darker to occur for 6 more years, starting with an invasion of Poland. So theoretically, it could be far more damaging to Trump supporters than others. In fact, I am willing to bet some of the violence during Trump campaigns in 2016 were caused by provocateurs from the other side posing as a Trump supporter.
