What interests me is that no matter how infatuated the right wing partisans are with Reagan, somehow the left wing partisans have the ability to match it.

It amazes me how anyone can think that stating a single position or a few of them of a prominent republican 30 years ago is supposed to mean something. It is rather irrelevant. Isn't it still true that "guns are a ridiculous way to solve problems that have to be solved among people of good will"? I don't have any problem with that statement and I still support the right to keep and bear arms including the option for conservative law makers to allow the right to carry a weapon in the open with some reasonable limitations. It's no freaking secret that Reagan evolved from a Hollywood liberal to a moderate conservative. Why are low information lefties surprised when Media Matters digs up junk like this?

The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill which repealed a law allowing public carrying of loaded firearms. Named after Republican assemblyman Don Mulford, the bill was crafted in response to members of the Black Panther party conducting armed patrols of Oakland neighborhoods while conducting what would later be termed copwatching.
