Would everyone be better off if you had to stay within say a 50 mile radius of where ever you were born? No country-hopping travelling or emmigrating, no moving to other states, everyone has to stay put. So instead of the Oregon shooter moving from where was familar and he knew people as individuals to a place everyone was a stranger and he felt so threatened he amassed quite the arsenal, he'd have had to stay close to where he knew everyone? Instead of cultures with their own psychologies mixing up with other ones, everyone's on the same page, with the same values and ways of doing things instead of irrationally hoping foreigners will assimilate and do things the way the locals do?
Airborne diseases can hop continents because of international/air travel. Vastly different cultures and mixing up with each other creating stress, hostility, and violence. People are leaving the familar for the unfamilar and not seeing strangers as friends they grew up with, but non-persons to be feared and dealt with.
Weren't we better off before we could move so much and so freely?
