It isn't going to happen and sadly even if it was and it was shown there are $70 trillion unaccounted for, few will care.

I worked for DoD for 8 years (three in the Army), and the amount of waste is just incredible.

Tiny example: One year our office furniture was noted to be looking a little bit shabby, but there was no room in the budget to replace it, so we had it all refurbished. I don't know the cost, but it was significant. Within a month after the beginning of the next fiscal year, it was all replaced with new and junked. Anything we liked, we were welcome to just take home.

Interestingly, DoD conducts its own internal audits continuously, but never finds any significant fraud, waste, or abuse.

Perhaps just on Naval vessels we would have 50 more real qualified ships to fight potential enemies. We are building the LCS ships and retiring the older ones a decade old while building the newer ones as these are lemons. Zumwalt destroyer lemons. Just these two programs alone tens of billions of dollars and tens of billions of dollars more spent for nothing except we will use advancements on other ships. It takes us a long time to build ships now. In WW 2 we did it quickly. However, we are like England as they slowly declined from the world leader until we took over. The vacuum gave us two world wars. And we and England were friends. China is not. And they are next in line to e world leaders.
