President Trump the Grand Master

In the game of Chess, the objective is to take away your opponent's options until he finally concedes defeat. And Grand Masters are the best in the world at doing this.

Let's apply this analogy to the United States and its foreign adversaries, particularly China, Iran and North Korea. In each case, President Trump is methodically taking away their ability to harm or coerce our country.

In the case of China, his tariffs are causing much greater harm to their economy than ours both directly and indirectly as companies are moving to other countries such as Viet Nam. What can China do? With Treasury yields at near record lows, any threat of theirs to stop financing our debt has become meaningless. If they don't agree to restructuring our trading relationship on our terms, their economic growth will be stifled as they face increasing competition from other developing countries.

In the case of Iran, President Trump's increasing squeeze on their economy has led them to take hostile actions which not only erodes their support from other countries but also give the U.S. justification for even more punitive measures. If push comes to shove, they know that the U.S. has the ability to destroy them as a functioning country without ever having to set boots on the ground. As long as we stay this course, Iran will either capitulate or become irrelevant.

In the case of North Korea, President Trump has completely undermined their raison d'etre as a military dictatorship still at war with the U.S. As China's influence fades, Kim Jong Un is now facing a choice between maintaining Stalinist control of a declining country or gaining glory as the Great Leader who negotiated peace terms with the world's greatest power and led his country to economic prosperity.

All thanks to President Trump the Grand Master.

thats not the objective of playing chess ya f'n idget - :21:

Goldilocks is the grand master LIAR ..... no more, no less.

Here is the world chess championship to learn from.

The problem is that he is removing all the options for this country as well.

I was reading an article just today about how the trade war has expanded to India now as well.

Trump has sacrificed his bishop to take out an enemy pawn. While it could work out, it is not normally a winning strategy.

Which is it?
Is Trump keeping the US from harm or is he allowing harm in small doses?

Try to appear intelligent again? Maybe you should ask Siete about Chess, lol. Sometimes losing a Pawn is necessary to take down a King.
Aha, so Trump is allowing other nations to harm the US...I just knew it.
which ones? and how?

ummm, Trump doesn't play chess, so you're OP failed from the outset for false analogy.

But the deal or no deal with China is Uuuuuge for Trump. His two signature issues were immigration, where even now the gop senate id not funding his wall, and trade. I wish him luck because getter IP protections and free trade with China will be a lot better than continued trade war and forcing US mftrs to find new supply chains with increased costs and/or tariffs.

He may have a new Nafta, and eventually we may see a TPP replacement if he's reelected. He folded like a wet noodle on NK, and Iran is more a fixation than a problem. Hint, they weren't behind 9-11, nor was Saddam

Yet there's still wall going up daily. They're building it right now. ;)

Care to explain that analogy? What "bishop" have we lost, and what "pawn" have we taken out? While you're at it, please explain how "normal" has been a winning strategy for the U.S.

Ever heard of "checkmate," Brainiac? (It means you are threatening your opponent's King and he has nowhere else to move.) Do you ever THINK before posting?

you dont concede when youre put in checkmate, you got your ass kicked - GAME OVER

YOU NEVER CONCEDE A CHESS MATCH FUMBDUCK !

CHECKMATE IS THE ONLY OBJECTIVE.
Doubtless it is for those of your intellect.

Trump is president of the richest, most powerful nation in the world, and he never stops whining that we're being victimized. What a freaking whine-a-thon! Man up, Trump! Try to mention a problem without blaming somebody, anybody, for causing it. What happened to "I alone can fix it"? He's an embarrassment. Every Mexican crossing the river would make a better American than that whiny c*nt.

President Donald Trump has never claimed we were victims, he has said that we will no longer be taken advantage of by other nations.

How is that a bad thing?

They couldn't pick a businessman without multiple bankruptcies? Oh, no, had to be a reality-TV star businessman.

You make a lot of assumptions concerning Trump policies & events that have yet to play out to any end game.
You sound the typical arrogant AmeriKKKan.

Well, ya gotta give him credit for taking on Jina because nobody tried before. It could still come up bollocks if the result is tariffs and higher prices from new supply chains, and he has to try to keep the economy afloat by jawing at the Fed to lower rates with rising prices.

We tried that in the early 70s, and it didn't work well. But who knows, If Jina rufuses to do real IP reform, maybe in the long run we're better off to cut off Jina and pay the piper now rather than later.

Of course Trump may also fold like a wet noodle to take the deal he can get rather than staying the course. Time will tell.
