Critics across the political spectrum have lambasted the Obama administration’s restrictions on lobbying as everything from a loophole-ridden political ploy to an unconstitutional violation of free-speech rights.

But this week, congressional researchers concluded that the administration’s crackdown has “already changed the relationship between lobbyists and covered executive branch officials” and suggested that Congress might consider enacting similar restrictions on itself.

The White House seized on the 18-page report by the Congressional Research Service as evidence that President Barack Obama is fulfilling his campaign promise to rein in the power of special interests in Washington.

“We’re pleased that CRS recognized a fact that is apparent everyday to those of us who work in government: The president’s historic restrictions on lobbying are having a significant impact in making sure that the government serves the public interest and not special interests,” Norm Eisen, the White House’s lead ethics lawyer, told POLITICO. “We hear constantly from public servants across the executive branch how appreciative they are that the president’s high standards and tough rules allow them to do their jobs. That represents the precise change that the president promised and that CRS recognizes he has delivered.”

"Harry Truman once said, 'There are 14 or 15 million Americans who have the resources to have representatives in Washington to protect their interests, and that the interests of the great mass of the other people - the 150 or 160 million - is the responsibility of the president of the United States, and I propose to fulfill it.'"
President John F. Kennedy

Does this mean that the DC whores will work for their constituents instead of sucking for lobby dollars??
I don't think so. We'll see how fast jobs come back...11% unemployment....

What a crock of crap this post is. Obama is nothing more than a cheap Chicagoland political hack that would sell out his own mother for any amount of publicity. He's ruined the economy with his failed attempts to get the growth going that the US needs and unemployment is the highest it has ever been in my lifetime. He's turning the country into a socialist state with his attempts to reform the health care system. He's dabbled into areas of the business world that is probably unconstitutional and at the least geared towards socialism. This guy is a jerk and the only thing I will praise him for is moving out of Washington when he is thrown out of office after the next Presidential election.

The Congressional Research Service (CRS), known as "Congress's think tank", is the public policy research arm of the United States Congress. As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, CRS works exclusively and directly for Members of Congress, their Committees and staff on a confidential, nonpartisan basis.

More Barry smoke being blown up our ass.

From the linked article:

But not everyone was convinced. A lobbying trade group and a left-leaning government watchdog that have been critical of Obama’s clampdown dismissed the report as hollow and slanted toward the administration.

“It just says without any explanation that it’s worked, but they don’t say how it’s worked,” said Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which has criticized the restrictions for missing the mark.

As usual in Barryland, its just a claim with no proof whatsoever if its true.

With, of course, the exception of the hack lobbyists in the employ of the administration....Lest we forget to mention Andy Stern. :eusa_whistle:

You have to understand...the right wing is a tough customer. Forget about the lobbying in place when they were calling the shots. Even though Obama cut Lobbying more than any other president, because he did not cut it 100% he has FAILED

of course GOTTA try to spin it negative.

Folks who are too wedded to their rhetoric to be able to admit that an opponent has done SOMETHING right have ZERO credibility with me.

So, how many lobbyists are currently working for the executive, who claimed that NO lobbyists would be employed by his administration??

I'll give you a hint...It's way more than zero.

Wrong again Dude

Obama never said he would not employ lobbyists. It can't be done.

Really?

Then who said this: "I don't take a dime of their [lobbyist] money, and when I am president, they won't find a job in my White House"?

You left out the part where he said as long as they are not representing issues they had previously lobbied on

Two weeks ago, Hot Air reported exclusively on a joint effort between Americans for Tax Reform and Alliance for Worker Freedom to demand an investigation of Andy Stern, president of the SEIU, for illegal lobbying with Congress and the White House.

ATR is headed by Grover Norquist, one of the most connected members of the new right-wing movement. He has close ties to the Republican Party, large U.S. business interests, and both the subsidized and regular U.S. media. Norquist helped the Heritage Foundation write the Republican's 1994 Contract With America.

Shortly thereafter, Norquist led a right wing charge to "de-fund" the left, declaring that "We will hunt [these liberal groups] down one by one and extinguish their funding sources." Norquist has also worked as a lobbyist for clients including Microsoft, American Business for Legal Immigration, Distilled Spirits Council, Edison Electric Institute, Interactive Gaming Council, and British Petroleum.
