I suspect that one day the Democratic Party will support polygamy because, well, they have to because if gays can get married then so do multiple men and women. Let's consider something about relationships that no one has thought of before which is attention to our wives. Now if you have one wife you have to give her your complete attention. She has some power in the relationship because she can make demands of her man that the man will comply with because he is afraid of losing her. What if we introduce another wife. He can now choose to spend more time with another which forces the first woman to be less demanding. Now let's have ten wives and see how much attention any one wife can demand of her husband. Whenever he gets bored with one he can switch to another. This is a case where competition is bad because it benefits the man since he is the customer and his wives are the business that has to cater to his every Desire or they lose their husbands attention. Do you see why these relationships exist? It's to benefit the man since the man has an advantage in it that the women don't. How can any party pretend to support women rights and polygamy at the same time?

Let it be, freedom of religion, and if my religion, Muslim or Mormon, says that I can Marry multiple wives, then who is the government to tell me not too? Ah...yes...first principle reasoning that is superunderinformed and shows real narrow view of marriage and relationships.

I've seen articles that discuss how polygamous wives in the early history of the country would often become very good friends (women tend to be pretty social). The man sometimes had a hard time getting anyone's attention. As long as he worked the fields...they didn't gripe. There were cases of competition, for sure. But in many cases, they cared for each other like sisters and watched out for each other.

It's good to know that someone like you can objectify women to being a "business".

And once again.....you want gays to have rights...and you want women to have abortion rights....but heaven forbid they choose to be in a polygamous relationship.

I believe you are making reference to countries such as the middle east.

Where they have a low and exploiting attitude towards woman anyway.

You can't equate that to the U.S. except for the groups we've already mentioned.

If legal, I don't see how it would be exploitive.....

Do I care...no.....not doing it (one is difficult enough).

But I don't see how this argument flys in the U.S.

And we should ask....do women currently jump into bad marriages. It would seem our divorce rate says you bet.
