Please share with me what you are doing to support our troops

Aps, are you prouddem? Are you not proud anymore? That makes sense, considering the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of the Democratic Party. You're coming along nicely.

Yes, that's me. You were able to convince me that I should not be a proud democrat anymore. I'm kinda scared about this--will you hold me? ;)

Seriously, I do not like being called something other than my name. Aps are my intials. I am still proud to be a democrat. Fiscally, I can be conservative about some issues.

Avenger, I am telling you all that I don't support the war. I have told only 2 servicemen about these feelings, but only after they told me that they didn't support the war (one of them just got back in July 2005 after having served a year in Iraq and one of them will be going very soon). So the troops have no idea how I feel.

I sleep like a baby, by the way.

Of course they do, when you and your nefarious ilk get on tv and act like the soldiers are duped idiots, another set of victims of "Bush's illegal war".

But you see, Avenger, I would never say that on TV or attend a protest. That's not who I am. I don't have bumper stickers on my car attacking the president or the republican party. What's funny, is that if you all knew me in person, you would see that I do not talk a lot of politics.

Yeah, that's because if you did, you'd have to face all of this ridicule and debunking in person rather than on the other side of this nice, anonymous computer personality.

Yes. Come to papa!

Well, I live in the DC area. Do you know how DC voted in the 2004 election? Kerry got 90% of the votes. Somehow I highly doubt that people here would ridicule me. But if it makes you feel better to say that, go right ahead. God forbid you answer the question posed in this thread.

Oh, by the way, the majority of Americans now think the war is a mistake, so maybe the ridicule wouldn't be so bad elsewhere:

Fifty-nine percent said they considered the 2003 invasion of Iraq a mistake. That figure is the highest recorded in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.

Libs often conceal their true thoughts, partly because they know how reprehensible they are. Call it a vestige of a past self, the natural person they were before they swallowed the bolus of antiamerican chew.

We all express ourselves differently. I have never felt the need to announce to the world how I feel about something.

Why are you here then? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you are here. But you obviously DO feel the need to announce to the world how you feel about something.

Let me pose to you "The Dillo Test": Why now?

Playing along is fun! Plus, I'm a tad patriarchal and would never deny you the male energy you need to be well balanced!

Oh, I guess I don't see posting on a message board as announcing how I feel to the world.

It always boils down to quibbling over words with you. Why is that?

Wait, let me guess: you don't consider having a slightly different perspective on your actions to be "quibbling over words".

I am a lawyer. Words have meaning to me.

You all dismissed my support of our troops, so please share with me what you are doing. I would like to know if you do more than just support the war and have a sticker on your car that says "Support our Troops." What else are you doing for them to let them know you support them?

Just some background to let you know that I AM TROOP SUPPORT. I'm a military wife, and my husband's best friend, who's been in the military with him for their entire careers (over 25 years), lives with us .... moved in after returning from deployment. And, I can't tell you how many family members and friends are currently or retired military.

I can't even begin to list all the things we wives and family members do to support our troops, but I can tell you that even though we don't like war.........because it's our loved ones that pay the price...........we don't denigrate our President or the administration or say we hate the government. We know this accomplishes just one thing, and one thing only..........giving the enemy encouragement.........which just puts our loved ones in more danger.

Our troops ARE part of the government. How one can separate the two amazes me. It seems that people think our military were enslaved and that they are then programmed to be robots fighting in an illegal war against their will. This thinking does not come from people who understand why they took the oath to protect their country. It's those that haven't taken the oath that don't understand duty and all the inherent responsibilities and risks it entails.

I support the war in that I want it over with as soon as possible..... with our guys and America completing the mission they set out to accomplish. Send the world a message that America will not tolerate terrorism......and we will follow you and eradicate you if necessary.

I don't like the fact that we were forced to take extreme measures, but I won't back down until the message is heard loud and clear. And everytime another soldier is killed.........I just get more determined........not weaker. I guess that's the difference between you and I, ProudDem.

Another way to support our troops is to attend their funerals and show the respect they deserve for their sacrifice to your country. And show the family respect for their loss.

Support is needed throughout their entire journey.

Hey Dem, changing your nic to aps isn't going to help you, you're getting trounced either way.

BTW, does that stand for " a proud socialist"?

I just don't get why people can't tell me what they are doing to support the troops without denigrating me or anyone else who doesn't support the war? Are any of you capable of providing a positive response? I feel sorry for people when the only way they can say something good about themselves is by attacking others. That's pretty sad.
