Palin's 'going rogue,' McCain aide says - CNN.com

Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue."

A Palin associate, however, said the candidate is simply trying to "bust free" of what she believes was a damaging and mismanaged roll-out.

McCain sources say Palin has gone off-message several times, and they privately wonder whether the incidents were deliberate. They cited an instance in which she labeled robocalls -- recorded messages often used to attack a candidate's opponent -- "irritating" even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan.

A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign.

"She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.

now i have heard all this about an independant women who speaks her mind and how the dems hate that, now what do you say??? are they setting her up to take the fall?

I don't think it is the McGrumpy folks. I think she is trying to set herself up for the future.

If she goes against him on some key rightie issues, she can come back and blame him later for losing.

She is an opportunistic politician who thrives on using her associates to get herself ahead in the game.

gee, i'm surprised no other politician ever thought of this.
and opportunistic politician is redundant.

Who gives a damn what she's doing, she sucks now, she'll sucks again in 2012, and if she is the "future of the Repub party," then what does that say about the future of the Republican party?

Spot on.

She's positioning herself for a bid in 2012.

I'm surprised she has called Bush II a socialist yet.

She has called him everything but that.

Even if they gave her crash courses until 2012, she still won't know what a VP does. I think she is too lazy to really get into domestic and foreign policy to the extent she would need to.

And Del, she excels at this. Read some of her history on her runs for election. She also feeds on the anger and dissisension she can create much like our former boy Joe McCarthy.

feeding on anger and dissension, what a novel approach.
she sounds just like..........a politician.

Agreed. Sad, isn't it.

In hindsight, even her opening remarks at her very first national speech: "The women of america aren't done voting yet" was targeting simmering resentment in Hillary supporters.

She targets the worst in people, instead of the best.

I think I would like her as a neighbor, she is strong and colorful. She is admirable in those ways, and I support her speaking her mind. Also impressed with how well she has done for herself.

But her manner of trying to win votes is barbaric, so I can't ever see supporting her (or anyone with such tactics, like Rove and Bush etc) as a politician.

Does the GOP base really want her to be the 2012 front runner??

God, I can only pray that's true. I would be worried if Pawlenty or Romney were the challengers to Obama, should he win this year.

A Palin/Obama match up in 2012 would be a democrats dream come true.

Barbaric ?? Are you comparing her to a *gasp* male ?

Heheh. She does have a pair of cojones most guys would envy, I'll give her that!

No, no they don't. I suspect she is positioning herself for that, or for some position of power in leadership. However, with all the conservatives blasting her, with her extremely high unfavorables, and with the Republicans struggling to get a new message (which I doubt they are stupid enough to embrace hers, again), she is pretty much toast.
