Sarah Palin obtained a protective order Monday against an 18-year-old Pennsylvania man who sent her receipts from a gun purchase, along with a letter saying “he tried to follow the Bible but had evil and wickedness in him.”

Palin, 46, filed the request in Anchorage District Court against Shawn R. Christy, a man she says began stalking her by e-mail and phone since the summer of 2009. Palin’s friend, Kristan Cole, 48, filed for and received a similar protective order against Christy.

Cole testified in her request for a protective order that Christy has called and sent e-mail, posted messages on her Facebook page and since the summer of 2009 has repeatedly requested to be able to meet with her or Palin.

Cole testified that she asked Christy to stop communicating with her that summer, but he continued to contact her by mail and phone every couple of weeks and sometimes every day.

“Petitioner testified that respondent sent a letter in Aug 2010 saying that he tried to follow the bible but had evil and wickedness in him,” Cole’s order stated. “Respondent also told petitioner in that same letter that he bought at least 1 gun and one shotgun and then sent a letter with proof of purchase of the guns and said he had additional tools that he could use.”

“Petitioner testified that respondent has told her that he has had an affair with Gov. Palin and that petitioner needs to tell the FBI the truth about that affair,” the filing stated. “Petitioner testified that these accusations led her to believe the respondent was delusional.”

Cole said Christy called Monday, told her he had landed in Alaska and has previously said he knows where her office is.

“Petitioner is concerned because the respondent appears to be unstable and has stated that he believes petitioner is evil and that she needs to be punished and that he is coming to confront her to get her to tell the truth.”
