Orrin Hatch says an FBI investigation is 'the very right thing to do.' Just not for Brett Kavanaugh.

Hatch is aggressively defending the Trump White House decision against having the FBI investigate, taking the position that the FBI just doesn’t do that sort of thing. Hmmm … how interesting, in the context of Hatch’s 1991 remarks on the investigation into Clarence Thomas’ sexual harassment habits:

Chairman Biden and ranking member Thurmond, when they heard about this the first time, they immediately ordered this FBI investigation, which was the very right thing to do, and they did what every other chairman and ranking member have done in the past[.]

Republicans might draw a distinction that the allegations against Thomas involved his time at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, a federal agency, vs. allegations of what would be a state crime. But if so, would they truly be suggesting that they and the FBI wouldn’t consider it FBI business if a Supreme Court nominee had committed, say, a murder that would only draw state, not federal, charges if uncovered? Or state-level drug crimes?

Were Thomas's only sexual harassments occur when he was a minor?

Did they happen 3 decades or more in the past?

You just don't get it or don't want to get it. Or maybe you are stupid. The FBI already looked at the matter and declined it because sexual assault is NOT A FEDERAL MATTER. In case you don't know: FBI = FEDERAL Bureau of Investigation.

Surely, Feinstein and Congress know that too! This entire insistence on an FBI investigation is for one reason alone, to hold up Kavanaugh's confirmation hoping the Democrats regain power in the Fall to stop it. PERIOD.

Unless the murder occurred under the FBI's jurisdiction, they have no authority to investigate. Murder would be investigated by the local authorities, just as the local authorities in Maryland would have to investigate any crime alleged to have been committed. Also since it is beyond the statute of limitations, they could not do so anyway.

Federal employee. Alleged crime of sexual harassment on federal property. Federal investigation warranted.

BS

You would think Kavanaugh would want one, now people are going to think maybe he did this, instead of trying to clear his name, she is the one pushing for an investigation.

That will make 2 on the Supreme Court Justices with stains and both Cons.

I wonder what his daughters would think, and think, a man of justice not wanting justice.

Like Ivanka, they probably will just turn a blind eye.

She wanted to remain anonymous, so what were they suppose to do, ask him questions about his high school days? LOL. No the FBI did not look into his high school days and this alleged crime was not reported. One would think the judge would want justice, what is he afraid of. One would think he'd want to clear his name, but no, after all he might think he is above the law like the Potus is.

Sorry! The FBI cannot investigate a non-federal crime from 1982. They would be laughed out of court.

Why do you think they could? They have already stated they could not.

Orin Hatch is like 150 years old.

He like so many in Congress, is the poster boy for term limits.

The stain is on the Left and it's unethical practices.

Show proof, give us one shred of evidence. You come off as a fool defending someone who doesn't remember the particulars and expects to stop a confirmation.

is Kavanaugh lying about it or not, is the issue...

Does he feel lying is the right way to go for his own benefit?
is that who we want on the SC for a lifetime??

if he is not lying, he should welcome an FBI investigation... he should be begging for it! And so should the R Senators!

The FBI has had the 'letter' from DF for over a week.
They have looked into the matter and determined there is nothing they have any interest in pursuing.
BK has 100% cooperated with everyone. He is ready to sit before the fucking rabid LIB senators on Monday morning to answer any questions.
He is going to rip the LIBs a new one this time.
As usual the DEMs are going to end up looking like bunch of fucking idiots.
