Oregon said Obama stay away..so guess who's coming to Roseburg?

There are no loopholes in private sales.
LOL. Missouri bought a AR15 in a Walmart parking lot, no questions asked, just fork over the money and take the gun. He could have been a terrorist or a crazy. That is not a loophole?

A loophole suggest that you are sidestepping a regulation or law. There are no regulation or laws on private sales other than it being in the best interest of the seller to ensure the buyer is lawfully able to possess a firearm.

Are you nuts? It's the FACT that private sales aren't covered by background check laws that creates the loophole.

Why is so important to you that felons and mental cases otherwise prohibited from buying guns can buy guns from a private seller because the seller isn't required to do a background check?

What is your special affection for those people?
The gun sales laws say commercial sales must be conducted by a FFL licensed individual and a background check must be performed at time of sale. The federal government does not regulate the private sale of legal goods between individuals. Do you need to get a background check before you buy a car from your boyfriend? Is there a car show loop hole?

If a person shouldn't be able to buy a gun legally, from the seller's POV, then the person shouldn't be able to buy the gun legally anywhere.

You want a bank robber to be able to walk out of prison one day, legally buy a gun the next, and rob his next bank the next.

WHY?

A convicted bank robber cannot legally purchase a firearm.

The sale of the car does not become legal unless a sales transfer is made, meaning a registration in most states. Are you promoting gun registration, even with private gun sales?

Owning a car is a privilege not a right.

Owning a gun is a right not a privilege.
True, but the methods of obtaining, selling and transferring ownership of weapons are not spelled out in the constitution and left to the discretion of the individual states. Be careful of what you put on the table.

If your newspaper and your elected lawmen and commissioners can't speak for a town, who can?

"... two Douglas County commissioners – Tim Freeman and Chris Boice – as well as Sheriff John Hanlin on Saturday expressed support for a statement saying they were not interested in having the president visit if he is "coming here to take advantage of our crisis to promote his political agenda."

Obama visit to Roseburg stirs local anger about his support for gun control after shooting
There are Eight members of the city council. The two you mention do not represent the city council. In addition, the letter they sent had caveats proclaiming the President would not be welcome "IF" he planned to take advantage of the crisis. That is and will be a subjective opinion and hence, the letter sent did not represent the towns views nor did it object to the President attending meetings or ceremonies.
Your OP remains a blatant and shameful lie.

*yawn*

Are you nuts? It's the FACT that private sales aren't covered by background check laws that creates the loophole.

LOL! That's not a fact Gilligan, that is your ignorance, further undermining your woefully shy credibility.

It is perfectly legal for one individual to sell a firearm to another individual. There's no law forbidding such... period.

Now... if there was a law that said individuals cannot sell firearms to another, unless they're white, protestant and faithful followers of brother John Birch... (Tip of the hat to Charlie Daniels)... THAT would be a loophole, dumbass.

Why is it so important to you that felons and mental cases otherwise prohibited from buying guns can buy guns from a private seller because the seller isn't required to do a background check?

Let me help ya through this Gilligan: "... the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Now that is about as simple a decree as can be written, yet it stands beyond the means of your limited intellect to comprehend. But hey... In fairness to you, it stands beyond the means of all Leftists to comprehend.

So I hesitate to pile on here, but I will...

What's more, the right of the people to keep and bear arms comes with the responsibility to do everything within one's power to not arm another who is reasonably known to them to be a danger to themselves and/or innocent people.

This is readily understood by every single American that has ever lived and which is alive today.

Now... that you do not understand that, is a clue. LOL! Guess what it means.

If a person shouldn't be able to buy a gun legally, from the seller's POV, then the person shouldn't be able to buy the gun legally anywhere.

ROFLMNAO!

If a person is unable to legally buy a gun, Gilligan, that doesn't change because they purchased the gun from a private seller.

THE PERSON BUYING THE GUN KNOWS IF THEY'RE LEGALLY ABLE TO POSSESS A FIREARM. The transaction is a crime, for which the ILLEGAL BUYER IS WHOLLY RESPONSIBLE.

Great! Ignorance is now a viable defense for aiding and abetting a criminal. Just say you didn't know the guy was a criminal and no one can mess with you.

Great! Ignorance is now a viable defense for aiding and abetting a criminal. Just say you didn't know the guy was a criminal and no one can mess with you.

No intent to aid or abet a criminal is always a viable defense. But that's only because not intending to aid a criminal to break the law, is not intentionally aiding a criminal.

But hey... in your defense, as a Relativist; thus an individual of substandard intelligence, capable only of subjective reasoning, typical of lower species... there is NO WAY you could have known that.

Unlike you I understand the meanings of words you have used. Viable translates into maybe or maybe not. Intent is not a word that can be answered objectively but rather comes with a subjective interpretation. These two factors discredit your assessment and conclusions and place the seller of a firearm as having committed a crime by selling a firearm to a criminal a matter for judicial review, i.e., a judge and jury.

ROFLMNAO! I tell ya Reader, the propensity of the Left to state and refute their own positions is a true time saver.

viable: capable of working successfully; feasible.

Dancing on the head of a fallacious pin, is NOT a viable tactic through which to debate. As it is unsustainable. (Which FTR: Does not mean that it may nor may not be sustained)

It means something different when he uses it, sheesh. Obviously, yore jest ignorant!

Of course it does... as such is the nature of Relativism.

I had to sift through hundreds of right wing echo chamber Google links to find this......buried by the morass of stupidity........but here is the factual information. Enjoy.

I'm believing the words of the elected officials of the city. You believed the words of a nutjob with a blog and an unread newspaper. Did you look at the "Roseburg Beacon" Facebook page?

Astonishingly, they had ZERO COMMENTS between March of this year and this week. ZERO. That means that they are not representative of anyone but the douchebag who operates the "newspaper".

You lose again.

Newspapers stay in business by selling advertising. They have to prove how many readers they have to justify what they charge for ads.

If nobody is reading their paper, then they can't sell advertising and forced to close their doors. Obviously they have enough readers to keep their business afloat.

not quite sure what that has to do with her point.

you really shouldn't be calling anyone else ignorant.

and yes, words have actual meaning... though that might confuse you and your winger buddies.

Point is that it's not some right-wing rag newspaper that nobody reads. People are reading it otherwise they would be out of business.

Do not try interjecting statements others do not make.
That is what is ignorant.
Trying to show you have something to say with nothing to say.

It has nothing to do about bowing you fool. Ever post makes you look more and more idiotic.
Keep up the good work.

Because tea baggers are ignorant doesn't mean the entire state is a bunch of slugs.
And what does this asshole have in the situation. Nothing but his stupid opinion.

David Jaques, the publisher of the conservative newspaper the Roseburg Beacon, says he believes that President Obama would not be welcome to the town after making remarks politicizing the shooting that left nine dead and nine injured at Umpqua Community College on October 1. Jaques told Breitbart News that he believes officials of Douglas County would also not welcome the President using the tragedy to score political points for a gun control agenda.

So a Conservative says the President is not welcome to a site of a tragedy...

So this just proves there is a conservative in the world who is an asshole.
He's not the only one, trust me.

They don't want the stupid pig there.
Oh, so it's *ignorant* to not bow to Obama.

All hail Obama.

You say it's "ignorant" to reject the prez. Which tells me that you're the one who's ignorant not to understand the implication of saying that.

Started a bit earlier and better than someone that has no idea. Shoe fit?

Id the shoe fits redneck. Put it on!
Time and time again it has been proven that rednecks are simple minded ignorant fools.

Because tea baggers are ignorant doesn't mean the entire state is a bunch of slugs.

And there you have it.

If the people there reject DumBama or otherwise make an ass out of him, the next thing to happen is blogs like this filled with Obama lovers calling that community a bunch of red-neck bible thumping gun lovers with a low education.

Wow, you're starting early. You must have been an early achiever.:laugh::laugh::laugh:

ok... maybe it has two readers. maybe there are 100 who are rightwingnut loons and read it.

but your point is neither here nor there and pretty much deflects from the point.

If you were right, it would be unconstitutional to pass laws against the publication of child pornography.

The community of Roseburg is resoundingly anti-Obama and anti-Progressive.
But it is not a dense population area. Oregon has no dense populations away from the valley.

How hard is this to understand?
