There is no reason to think it's not accurate. It's a 7 Day rolling Average, It includes 5 days after the 2nd Debate. This time 4 years ago it was Obama 51, McCain 44. Obama has never even been over 50 in the poll this time around.
The Gallup Poll has the Largest Sample size of Likely Votes of all the Polls on RCP's Average. Now on RCP Obama is actually up by .02. However if you look at the polls broke down, 3 of the polls that have Obama up, are a bit older than the Gallup poll, and they all have much smaller sample sizes.
I am willing to go on Record right now and say Barring any Crazy Oct Surprise, or a total fail for Romney in the last Debate. Romney will win the election by what will turn out to be a very good Margin.
The Problem is a sitting president does have the ability to shake things up, Wag the Dog so to speak.
