WASHINGTON -- Thursday, March 8 is International Women's Day, and Republicans in Congress are celebrating by debating a new bill that would restrict abortion rights.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution held a hearing on Thursday to discuss the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (CIANA), which is sponsored by two Florida Republicans, Marco Rubio in the Senate and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in the House. The bill would make it illegal for anyone but a parent to accompany a young woman across state lines to seek an abortion -- even if her parents are absent or abusive.

Perhaps more significantly, the bill is the latest in a long series of attempts by Republican lawmakers to criminalize physicians who perform abortions, to chip away at women's constitutionally protected right to decide when and if they will have a child and to otherwise politicize women's health.

Thursday is International Women's Day, and House Republicans are celebrating by debating a bill that would make it more difficult for young women to seek abortions.

Meanwhile Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) marked the day by asking his Twitter followers to join him in celebrating National Agriculture Day.

"Today is Natl Agriculture Day. Hope you'll join me to recognize the vital benefits agriculture plays in our everyday lives," he tweeted.

A couple of people responded that they would rather he observe International Women's Day.

Blunt sponsored the controversial amendment that would have overridden Obama's contraception coverage rule and allowed employers to refuse health care coverage of any kind for "moral reasons." It was voted down in the Senate last week.

If a young and abused non-adult woman has the courage to go to an abortion clinic, then she should also have the courage to go to a police station. However, for the thousands of young girls who seek abortions simply out of fear, they shouldn't have any medical procedure without a parent's consent. Please...now go whine about how underage girls aren't allowed to go to tanning salons in some states without parental consent.

The 'War On Women' by Republicans is false...but actually owned by the Statist Democrats...

And a non-issue at this point as people are hurting economically.

That is the problem, it is never a convenient time to address women's issues. My human being status outweighs money.

There is NO "war on women" being foisted by Republicans...only Statist Democrats.

*Period*
