OMB: Top 20% pay 95% of taxes, middle class 'single digits'

No, it isn't.

We don't need to pay more taxes. We need to spend less money.

I said NO tax. Remember 2012? All the conservatives complaining about the infamous 47% who pay no federal income tax?

Now the GOP wants to increase that number.
No one's taxes (Those who do pay taxes) is being cut to zero. Those who pay no taxes can't have their taxes cut. You do understand that, right?

I understand that if a household is paying a fairly low amount right now, and you increase the standard deduction, and you increase the child tax credit,

their taxes could go down to zero. They might even get money back they never paid in.
But we're talking about the middle class.

Top 25%-15% = what we refer to as the "Middle Class".
Where do you get this definition?

Which means even more pay no tax? Isn't that a standard conservative complaint?
No, it isn't.

We don't need to pay more taxes. We need to spend less money.

Where and how much?
Everywhere and 25%.

The fire department should be hit with a 25% budget decrease?

I got it.....You're a Canadian hack.....
The Fire Department is paid by local taxes. Wow, just wow. We are talking about the federal government.

Run along and play.

Since the feds return the majority of taxes paid to the States, name one fire department that doesn't receive federal funds either directly or indirectly.

The GOP and Trump are promising an average tax cut of $4000. You don't think there's any household in the so-called middle class that currently pays less than $4000?
You realize you are arguing against a middle class tax cut?

Some will, some won't. If you have to start parsing it down to make your point, you failed at your point.

I agree with the Socialist Regressives that the rich aren't paying their fair share. They are paying way too much and it's time to lower the tax rates.

Absolutely not. Time to raise the incomes of the rest of us. Were the rest of us to have an income equivelent to our value to society, then the upper end of the spectrum would not be making as much, and therefore, would pay less of the taxes. Why should a CEO of a corporation get salary that amounts to 100's of millions a year? He is a hireling, just like the rest of us.

That is not how fire departments are funded.

That's about the range for people who make between $60,000 and $90,000 a year.

I guess I determine the middle class on the basis of quintile. The 60 to 80% of income earners would be the middle class. Near the 80% mark, some are making in excess of 200k. At the lower end, many are making 50k or less. The top 20% pay 95% of the taxes, the middle quintile pay the 5% that is left because the lower 40% pay no taxes.

Nope. I have and stand by the fact that the middle class doesn't pay that much and if they get a tax cut, their taxes will go lower. After all, what you asked was, "What would happen if the middle class gets a tax cut? I said, their taxes would go lower.

But you answer Me question.

Do you think that people who have no skin in the game have any real concern that our nation is going to fail financially?

We all have skin in the game. That's how a market economy works.

Not really. When it is possible to get a pay raise by increasing the family number by another digit, I doubt they have any skin in the game.

However, that is not what I asked, is it?

I'm not a loser who has some OCD issue about proving unimportant internet anon's wrong. I make My points, speak My opinion and move on.

If that means you get to think you have the last word, by all means, do so. Just clean up after yourself, m'kay?

I am retired. We live off our pensions. Middle class retirement. No need to draw on 401K yet.

Next year I will have to start taking out my 401K under the IRS regulations or be penalized.

When Trump's plan was revealed a couple of months ago I did a quick and dirty calculation. Under his plan I would pay about as much taxes then as I pay now but including the 401K withdrawal.

To me that is a good thing. More income but the same taxes. God bless Trump!

I would much rather spend the money myself than to give it to the filthy ass government to give to the welfare queens and illegals. Piss on the government. It is already too bloated.
