I joined IH in 2002, and had to change my name. I had chosed Dr. Bob and did not know that a wiseacre had a similar name. People thought I was him, and I had to live that down.

I chose this name by taking a few words and re-arranging them and it stuck.

So, being new, any advice?

I sold heavy construction equipment for 20 years...

To me, an old time IH'er would be someone who owned and International Harvester before they were bought out by Tenneco, Inc. a subsidiary, J.I. Case.

The site is dead now.

It was a forum started in the wake of 9-11. The owner (Jon Messner) bought up a lot of sites related to Al-qaeda and directed them to his site. CNN did a story on him and the forum grew by leaps and bounds. A group of people joined and became pretty much their own litte community, probably 80-100 people. SOme from Australia, England, Norway, Canada, even India and the middle east. Most from the US though. If you pm me, I will show you a link to the old site. It is still sitting out there, but oyu cannot register or anything. But you can look at old posts and see how interesting it was.

Thank you everyone for the fantastic welcome. So far I have been very safe with my opinions. No one has bashed me for liking Irish Ale.

No one has bashed me for saying I read the Bible.

No one has red repped me for being an environmentalist.

I did not say much about myself.

I was born and raised a redneck in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Went to college, moved to MI, then WI for grad school,, then WV for work and then MN for post grad work.

And stayed.

4 kids. 1 married in grad school.
1 in college.
1 just graduated from high school.
1 in high school.

I was a competitive powerlifter in college but got caught up in heavy drinking and was an alcoholic by age 22. I quit and did not have a drink for 23 years. I returned to churchgoing at age 23 and have gone ever since, covering the gamut from right wing to left wing and now back to a pretty centrist one.

I work in Health Care.

I hunt and fish. I own guns.

I am an environmentalist.

I coach baseball.

I had a heart attack in 2011 on the ball diamond and one of my players revived me with CPR. He is an Eagle Scout.

I am currently mentoring a young man from Venezuela who will probably make it to the MLB. He just turned 20, and his parents still live in Venezuela.

So, that is me.

I like Irish Ale.
