I think Tim Tebow is GREAT! He took a team with a terrible defense, a
slightly better than mediocre offense with a front line that blows,
and got them into the playoffs.
Were they going to beat NE? No friggin' way.

But I think he's great. And I love that he's so politically incorrect! (Willing to thank God publicly for all that he receives). It's like people who smoke cigarettes in casinos - OMG so politically incorrect! Heaven forbid they make their own choice.

So BOY does Tebow piss off those demanding everything be politically correct and that Christians not be allowed to publicly be who they are (as opposed to gays, Muslims etc...).
They obssess over him! Have you seen all the threads and such? It's great! :clap2:

Go Tim!

I don't think we can yet call Tebow "great". He's certainly good enough to play and good enough to win. Wether he ends up being great or not remains to be seen.

Tim Tebow and the Broncos did great this year.

Christians are not allowed to show their faith publicly.

Good for him for not being ashamed of Christs love.

I constantly hear athletes thank god during post-game or -fight interviews. Tebow's rise to prominence in the media is not just because he shows his faith publicly. I'm not entirely sure WHY he gained such fast celebrity, but if simply showing Christian faith in public did it, there would be a new love/hate fest every week when another athlete started thanking god or Jesus.

Well here's the deal. What if after every td he thanked God for living in a country that allowed him to be openly gay without persecution? Would LibDems shet their pants and post threads about how terrible THAT was? Of course not. But because he makes a quick and simple thanks to God for all that he has been blessed with, they go apeshet.
I find that pretty danm hypocritical.

I'd love it if you could find an example of a "LibDem" posting a thread about how "terrible" Tim Tebow's praying is...

Of course you can't, because no one is claiming that.

We're just mocking him, which is our First Amendment right.

Actually there has been a great deal of criticism of him showing his faith - right on this board. Of course no one here "persecutes" him because no one here has the power to effect the guy in any way.
I don't feel Christians are persecuted and haven't said so. What I've said is that a LOT of LibDems make a big deal about it. Guess what? If a Muslim got out a rug and genuflected to Mecca during half-time, I'd be fine with that too. Or if an atheist publicly thanked atheism after every td, that would be fine by me!
But oh BOY do a lot of folks have "feelings" because unlike in schools and other public places, they can't stop the guy from thanking God whenever he feels like it.
I love that!

Just thought I'd refute a little of this.

During Tebow's wins this year, the defense gave up an average of 17.5 points. In 5 of the 8 wins, they gave up 15 or fewer points. In only 1 of the 8 wins did they give up more than 24. When you say Tebow took a team with a terrible defense to the playoffs, that would imply he put up a lot of points. That's obviously not true. In fact, it was the play of the defense that kept the team in a number of those games allowing Tebow the opportunity to create those last-minute drives to win games. Yes, Tebow took the opportunities afforded him in those situations and made the most of them. Implying Tebow overcame poor defensive performances, however, is untrue.

Denver was first in the NFL in rushing by almost 200 yards. That doesn't happen without some decent play by the O line. They may not be the best, and they may lack in pass protection, but they seem to be able to run block pretty well.

I'd agree the offense is mediocre. They scored fewer than 20 points 9 times during the season, 8 of those with Tebow at QB. The offense was mediocre with Orton, they remained mediocre with Tebow.

Denver was very much like Seattle last year. They backed into the playoffs on a 3 game losing streak. Most people didn't think, after seeing the way they played this year, that they were really a playoff caliber team. Then, in their first playoff game, they surprised almost everyone by pulling out the victory against the Steelers, as the Seahawks did last year against the Saints. Grats to them for that, but let's not give Tebow too much of the credit for what was a total team effort, both in that playoff win and their run during the regular season.

Tebow may be a wonderful person. He can thank god all he wants, just as other athletes do regularly. None of that changes the fact that he was mediocre, at best, as a quarterback this year. He's young, he hasn't played much yet in the NFL, so let's give him another year or two before we crown him or call him a bust. The hype surrounding him is both ridiculous and, to me, fairly inexplicable.

Ah. I could have written this better. I don't think he's a GREAT Quarterback, I think he's a great guy and a great example of someone willing to thank God in public, even though it's politically incorrect and irritates the hell out of a lot of Denver fans. Screw 'em.
As far as the team goes, I only got to see them twice all year and I thought the defense sucked. But you've obviously done your homework so I was wrong.
I did see him get hit a lot and hard though. Their G's & T's seem much better at run than pass blocking.
And the hype surrounding him? Created as much by atheists as anyone out there. If they simply didn't care, there wouldn't BE all that hype. Then of course, there's that idiot Perry who is still trying to buy votes with God. What an azz. But he brought up Tebow and that got the attention of people who both admired or hated Tebow for this.

Yeah, idiots love to hide behind the first amendment when they act stupid. The idiots at westboro Baptist are a perfect example.

Actually, The Broncos did great "AFTER" they lost 4 ames in a row.

The Broncos defense is actually good--it was not great but good when you stack results versus the opposing team records.

I hate to be the spoil sport here, but the Broncos problem is their offnse.

I like Tebow, I hope he does well in the future--but apparently that future is not with the Broncos!

You're not being a spoil sport but you missed the thread where I addressed then when brought up by someone else. I only got to see the Broncs play two games and their defense did horribly in both. But someone who saw more provided all kinds of stats etc...

And again, I think Tebow is great as a person, not a quarterback.:clap2:

Well, if you don't like it, move somewhere else.
