Octomom Welfare Fraud: Nadya Suleman Under Investigation? - UsMagazine.com

UNE 10, 2013 AT 5:20PM BY ALLISON TAKEDA

Nadya Suleman, a.k.a. "Octomom," is currently under investigation for welfare fraud, on a tip that the mother of 14 has been illegally collecting thousands of dollars in government aid, TMZ reports. According to a search warrant, officials are taking steps to seize Suleman's financial records from her manager's home and office.

Per TMZ, Suleman and her 14 children are eligible for welfare benefits if she earns less than $119,000 in a calendar year. However, officials at the L.A. County Department of Welfare Fraud Prevention and Investigation reportedly received a tip that she grossed more than $200,000 in 2012 -- and still collected public-assistance money from the government.

If the tip turns out to be true, Suleman could face up to three years of prison time.

Like all govt programs, welfare is riddled with fraud. Millions of applicants lie about their income or how many kids they have and all the social workers take bribes to allow the fraud.

Government can't do anything right.

People get turned in for "welfare fraud" all the time, and the claims seldom have much validity. I've fielded many, many calls from people who claim this person or that person is lying about their income, that their neighbor is getting all these benefits but they know for a fact that they're working and geting $$ that they haven't reported...then you look at the file and yup, there's the income listed already.

People are malicious, and people have hated her all along because she didn't kill her babies, because she isn't the perfect example of a perfect person which the left thinks should be the only people allowed to breed...obviously she has issues. If she committed fraud accidentally or stupidly, they'll have her pay it back (usually by withholding a percentage of the benefits that continue to be paid out)...if she set out to deliberately and systematically rip off the system, she could get a criminal conviction.

But those are pretty rare, and the offense has to be pretty egregious. Not just failing to report income, but failing to report income over and over and over again, or pretending to have people in your household (like disabled relatives) so that you can draw on their benefits..stuff like that.

Just not mentioning a one-time payment of a few thou probably isn't going to land her in jail.

Not too shocked.
Anyone who has 14 kids and no means to support them is well.... stupid.

Who's stupid? The article said she pulled in $200K. Read much?

She is making that money now after having the kids because she's making porn because she needs the money to support the litter she had....She already had 6 kids with no job
before she had the last 8.

So my point is the same.
She had kids already with no means of support then went and had more.
That is the action of a smart person?

If i stole few thou from you, you'd demand i be locked up for years. Anyone caught in welfare fraud should be forever banned from collecting welfare again. Stop being a criminal coddler.
