Obama's policies killing oil industry

How can the right be so damned stupid?

Blind adherence to dogma.

The USA is just sitting on it's ass and in denial about future energy problems.

Not true.

The right wants to drill in Alaska and off the coast of Florida.

What could go wrong?

For conservatives, alternative energy is communism.

The petroleum industry presents itself as one of the very few, if not the only, domestic economic sectors that is today a vibrant and successful job-creating tax generating entity that exhibits true potential in such a troubling environment.

Yet- keep in mind... Obama's proposed budget contains tens of billions of dollars in punitive tax provisions directed at this very same industry.

You contradict yourself.

If the ‘petroleum industry presents itself as one of the…domestic economic sectors that is today a vibrant and successful…tax generating entity,’ then how can those very same taxes be ‘punitive.’?

This idiotic moron has got to go.

What’s idiotic and moronic is to continue to subsidize ‘a vibrant and successful…tax generating entity’

Define for me 'subsidies' as they relate to the petoleum industry.

The punitive taxes to which I refer are quite honetsly not "taxes" but do in effect amount to the negation of tax treatments afforded under existing code.

I wonder why two of the most regulated industries, health care and energy, are showing the greatest job growth and profitability?

The sound your hear is the death rattle of yet another Conservative canard.

Which would be the case if that is what it was.

However, Exxon does a lot of business outside of the U.S. They are huge in bed with Reliance over in India.

And lest people lose sight of this fact, we only refine about half of what we consume. Which means that even as we bring on more production, it is only fighting with other production. The first wall we will hit is when we (if we ever) produce enough to fill our refineries. After that they will have to start exporting the oil to get it processed and sent back.

You may or not be aware that about 650,000 BPD of refining capacity is shutting down on the East Coast. This after a smaller refiner in Virginia shut down about a year ago. They can't compete with the mega export refineries that are being built in India and Saudi Arabia.

If things are so good and we have so little capacity...why are we shutting it down again ?:confused:

Further to the point, Reliance is reported to be bidding on Valero. Valero is a large refining org with no upstream connections. So, a significant portion of our refining will now be owned by India. Things are just great.

Not a bad idea to run THEM out of oil first.

Big oil get 40 billion in subsidies . Arrrrgghh! But subsidize an alternative energy industry that needs it to compete with other countries that subsidize theirs, for the FUTURE, and Pubs go nuts. Of course, they go nuts against EVERYTHING Obama wants...Myopic A-holes.

Profit at the oil company soared compared to the same period a year ago, when it was $7.4 billion. Per-share income climbed to $2.13 per share from $1.44 in the prior year.

Chevron is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings on Friday. The company is expected to announce revenues of nearly $70 billion, an increase of 40% from a year ago, and net income of $6.7 billion

Profit soared and so did the price. Go figure.

You're right. It's a no-brainer. Obama is completely in the pockets of big oil.

And how much of that 40 billion went to Exxon ?

BTW: Exxon seems to be playing the CO2 sequestration game as well as the algae (biofuel) arena.

Green to the bank.

Not completely. Remember, it was Obama that wanted BP to clean up their mess. But it was a Republican who apologized to BP and was later made head of the Energy Committee. That was his reward for taking the heat for publicly apologizing to BP for us having the nerve to want them to clean up their mess. Not to mention the nearly dozen men who died. BP and the Republicans. What a bunch of fuckers.

And what does BP stand for...?

Yes, that is right... large multinational company that laughs at the way you and others create the kind of environmental regulations that prevent us from being energy self sufficient. BP is a huge investor in several export refineries and will be collecting back any fines in a matter of months with we will be paying these places to bring in oil and refined products.

Dupe.

Obama is just about right on everything. If the Pubs would just let the magic negro GO, on domestic stuff. Now he's going to have to abuse their dumbazzes...and good nite.

"For too long, the GOP has protected multi-billion dollar tax breaks for their big oil contributors. Now oil company profits are soaring and middle-class families are struggling," said Matt Canter, spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, referring to reports that all the major oil companies are about to notch record profits, again.

"It's time for Senate Republicans to stop collecting campaign contributions from the industry and then doing their bidding," Canter added in statement to be released with the campaign launch. "Our campaign will rally opposition to Senate Republicans and Republican candidates' policies that put their Big Oil campaign contributors ahead of middle-class families."

In fact, Republicans have gotten vastly more in campaign contributions than Democrats from oil and gas interests, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which found that the GOP has outpaced its rival $123 million to $42 million in contributions from the industry.

Former and current House members on the GOP ticket opposed several efforts in the last Congress to end some $21 billion in subsidies to large oil companies.

Is that you or the alcohol speaking ?

Other than high oil prices, what else would make an oil company's profits soar?
Monopolies and Artificial Scarcity caused by not drilling then embracing the false hope of "Green Technologies".
Yeah.....
