Obamas new slogan "Put Country First"

Yes. You notice the massive disparity between the "top 1%" and the "top 50%"?

Oh yeah, I see what your saying....those evil 1% are paying 40% of the taxes.
The rest of the 99% are paying 60% combined :cuckoo:

Or, another way of looking at it....the top 5% are paying 60%.
The rest of the 95% are paying 40% combined,

Yes those rich old bastards really do need to step up to the plate.

Since it's getting so much play now:

Some of us are investment managers who earn billions from our daily labors but are allowed to classify our income as “carried interest,” thereby getting a bargain 15 percent tax rate. Others own stock index futures for 10 minutes and have 60 percent of their gain taxed at 15 percent, as if they’d been long-term investors.

These and other blessings are showered upon us by legislators in Washington who feel compelled to protect us, much as if we were spotted owls or some other endangered species. It’s nice to have friends in high places.

Last year my federal tax bill — the income tax I paid, as well as payroll taxes paid by me and on my behalf — was $6,938,744. That sounds like a lot of money. But what I paid was only 17.4 percent of my taxable income — and that’s actually a lower percentage than was paid by any of the other 20 people in our office. Their tax burdens ranged from 33 percent to 41 percent and averaged 36 percent.

To understand why, you need to examine the sources of government revenue. Last year about 80 percent of these revenues came from personal income taxes and payroll taxes. The mega-rich pay income taxes at a rate of 15 percent on most of their earnings but pay practically nothing in payroll taxes. It’s a different story for the middle class: typically, they fall into the 15 percent and 25 percent income tax brackets, and then are hit with heavy payroll taxes to boot.

Everyone (with 1/2 a brain) knows that to get control of the debt and the economy, we need to make cuts and raise revenue.

It's only logical where that revenue should come from.

That chart is as FOS as you are. That's federal income tax only, and doesn't take wealth into account. If you include payroll taxes, local taxes, sales tax and fees- totally different- and the top 400 FAMILIES have the wealth of the bottom 60%-- payroll taxes now are MORE than income taxes. Pub dupes!!

Now which is it? Last week I posted about Obama going on this "campaign" trip on our dime and you all denied he was campaigning. Now he's actually doing it and your bragging about what a good job of it he is doing. You lefties cant keep your rhetoric straight.

*Crickets chirping*

Who is "you all"? I didn't even realize Obama was making these appearances until I flipped on the news today.

I don't recall talking to you about this. Is this that neat board trick where I suddenly have to be accountable for the words of other posters?

It's not one I am prone to play. I speak for myself. No one else.

So you admit that he is defrauding the taxpayers on this taxpayer funded campaign bus tour and you have no problem with that?

No. He's not defrauding anybody in that it's not a "campaign event". He's not on an "Obama 2012" event and he's not out asking people for their votes.

Pragmatically, every appearance he makes from now until 2012 is going to be tied to his campaign.

There is some nuance there, but I am sure you can handle it. As it stands, traveling around the country and trying to get Americans energized about the economy and his agenda is the prerogative of the President and he's hardly the first to do this.

Yes it is only logical that where increased revenue should come from. It should come from increased productivity. Perhaps Obama will figure that out and get the hell out of the way. Think how much revenue could be raised by things like energy production... oil refining..and thousands of other business ventures if only government would get out of the way.

Thats a horrible back track from your earlier "go Obama knock it outa the park", pom poms and all statement earlier. And do tell when was the last time a president went on a bus tour to predominately toss up states and labeled it business.

Still waiting on the response as too why its okay for Obama to campaign across the country using our tax dollars.

Still awaiting your justification for criticizing Obama for doing the same thing that every previous president has done.

Crawl back under your rock, trolls are incapable of rational discussions.

Sounds to me like he finally got the message we have been sending him for nearly three years now. Unfortunately, one must wonder if he will remember that message on 1/21/13 should he win the November 2012 election.

Suffice it to say, I have my doubts.
