ObamaCare Waivers: 729!!!!!

Mon cher Samson,

A Big Government crony is one, small or large, who uses its relationship with the BG to get taxpayer money shoveled into its trough or other special favors (i.e., the waiver).

This will no doubt be a relief to Merlin Frolmsbee

Amazing how effective the healthcare "reform" bill is working and we still have yet to really implement it and find out how it is going to kill small business and the taxpayer of any bracket. Talk about inflation?

The national celebration to embrace ObamaCare continues with a total of 729 organizations now receiving approved waivers!

Approved Applications for Waiver of the Annual Limits Requirements of the PHS Act Section 2711 as of December 3, 2010 | HHS.gov

The list is Quite Interesting. A veritable smorgasboard of Big Government cronies, large and small.

Don't worry.

Greenbeard will show up and explain all.

He'll tell us its just temporary and all the folks working for these companies are gonna get hosed just like the rest of us t0 pay for Obamacare.

Nothing to see. Move along.

I like things simple, how about the whole country gets a waiver from this piece of shit?

Waivers are temporary and at the whim of bureaucrats.

The real answer is Repeal and Real Reform.

Will you people stop bitching about the past? Obama wants us to move forward!

I thought he wanted us to Win The Future, WTF?

How many times did he use that Win the Future term which had previously been coined by Newt Gingrich who entitled one of his books Winning The Future: A 21st Century Contract With America??

He should have at least given Newt the credit for the idea? :cuckoo: Newt should sue...

You do know "Waivers only last for one year and are only available if a waiver is necessary to prevent either a large increase in premiums or a significant decrease in access to coverage" which would be the case for those employers who only offered mini-med or high risk plans that didn't meet the new healthcare requirements. What exactly is the issue?

Seriously? You don't see the issue with people opting out of a health care plan that is touted to save people money and generally make everyone's lives better?

That's what you people don't get about a free market. The free market does what works and if Obama's plan was gonna work and make everyone's lives better the free market would already have done it. Now something that isn't better is being crammed down people's throats. If Obamacare is so great why is there a waiver option at all? If Obamacare is so great why are so many waiver requests being granted? If it's going to work so fucking well for everyone why are so many people opting to not participate?

You're telling us this only affected businesses that offered certain types of plans? So the new regulation must be one that forces business to provide only plans that some washington beauracrat said was okay. THAT'S PART OF THE REASON PREMIUM PRICES WENT UP IN THE FIRST PLACE. Do you know nothing of basic economics. The less choice you give people the more prices for substitutable products goes UP. Much as Obama seems to want to, he can't break laws of basic economics. Less choice means higher prices for the consumer. Increased demand on services, which Obamacare is supposed to allow, creates shortages if there are no correllary increases in supply of resources.

LOL, no one is opting out of "obamacare". There is a lot that is changing in these businesses offered insurance that isn't sufficient to meet the new standards. So instead of saying tough shit, they are issued temporary waivers to give them more time to get in compliance. Then they'll be held to the same standards as everyone else. This is certainly better then just saying tough shit and putting all of those people out of insurance of sky rocketing their costs.

Just as the "Doc Fix" is an annual bit of budgetary Kabuki Theater, the Waiver Renewal Process will become just such another Orwellian display.

Why the hell should government get to tell a private business what it has to provide in terms of health care? You clearly still don't get it. You think after a one year waiver a business is miraculously going to have the extra money it needs to pay for the health care some asshole in Washington tells them they have to provide?

You know a simple yes would have sufficed as in 'yes, i think basic rules of economics can be broken'. You people are fucking laughable. You claim we need health care reform to stop insurance companies from gouging people and making huge profits yet you support the measures of Obamacare that allow insurance comapnies to gouge people and increase their profits.

I've never said this healthcare reform was perfect. FAR from it. I hate the fact that it gives more customers and strength to private insurance. I support many of the other aspects of this healthcare reform however that far outweigh the negatives.
