Obama Plans $450 Million Cash For Egypt

The US gives 0.2% GDP per capita. That is 0.2% GDP per capita more than we have to give.

The UN suggests 0.7% ....No One gives a shit what the UN Suggests, The US pays more than its' fair share just for the yearly operational expenses of the UN.

Some countries gives 1%. ..... Good for them, Let the UN give them a Medal.

How much money per capita do the churches and charitable institutions in Finland give to other countries? We in the US have missionaries in dozens of third world counties providing free food and medical care. George Bush provided BILLIONS to African nations fighting AIDS. The US percentage of support for UNESCO is considerably more than any 10 other countries combined.

Do you only count what is given directly by government to foreign governments?

The stats here are only government statistics, and you are absolutely correct that American citizens and churches give an enormous amount of aid. I do think Americans as individuals are a very generous people, but the fragmented nature of your aid means not all of it is well directed - or even well-intentioned.

Bush stopped American aid workers in Africa handing out condomns to prevent AIDS. Thanks George! That is Reallly Smart!

You are going to learn not to be a smartass if you read the excerpts from this article.

Hundreds of small grass-roots projects are being funded by the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, alongside higher-profile charities and big state clinics.

Bush launched the $15 billion plan in 2003 to expand prevention, treatment and support programs in 15 hard-hit countries, 12 of them African, which account for more than half the world's estimated 33 million AIDS infections. The initiative tied in with a World Health Organization campaign to put 3 million people on AIDS drugs by 2005 — a goal it says was reached in 2007.

PEPFAR ambassador Mark Dybul dismisses criticism that the funding is too narrowly focused.

"In Africa you can't tackle development goals unless you tackle HIV/AIDS," he says, citing the devastation wreaked on professions like nursing and teaching.
Besides PEPFAR, Bush has launched a five-year, $1.2 billion initiative to cut malaria deaths in 15 African nations by half.

Dybul also says it is unfair to accuse the U.S. of overemphasizing abstinence because PEPFAR is a major supplier of condoms to the targeted African countries. For instance, PEPFAR figures show 60 million condoms going to Zambia, 40 million to Rwanda, 145 million to Ethiopia in the past five years.

All Catholic and several other faith based relief organizations did not hand out free condoms in Africa. Bush's organization, PEPFAR most certainly did.

Unlike the present dirtbag we have for a President, George Bush did not order Churches to violate their basic tenets.

What in the hell does this have to do with the 450 Mil Obama wants to send Egypt?

I must have missed the part whe the nation of Egypt attacked us. Got a link?

Good grief you libs are clueless.

I mean how could you NOT KNOW that the embassy was also attacked in Egypt. You are depending on news sources that aren't telling you everything.

Open up your world.

There are valid reasons we want to vote out Obama, and it has NOTHING to do with the color of his skin.

Attacked BY WHO asshole?

Absolutely nothing. Was it addressed to you?

Our beloved Pres. Obama is a very wise and pragmatic man who knows what's best for the nation.

All loyal and patriotic Americans should support whatever he decides is best for us.

Because he exemplifies the best our nation has to offer as a leader.

Question is... which nation is he looking out for? ;)

It surely is not the working class of Americans.

Egypt is not a moderate govenment.

Any aid the US gives it, only helps an anti-US regime stay in power.

Regardless, we can't afford to pay our own bills. What the hell are we doing offering to pay any other countries?

Oh, Finland sent us a whopping one hundred grand to help with Katrina..

Then perhaps you should think about displaying a little more respect.

Really - what an absolutely vile attitude you have towards countries who have chosen to help you when you needed it.

You look at what YOU posted here and then maybe you'll figure out why the people of the U.S. are not lining up to send cash to Morsi and the people of Egypt. Egypt's failed security allowed a foreign flag to fly over OUR embassy and then gave out a delayed half hearted apology. It was basically, "We're sorry, but. If you want a billion dollars of someone's money you can at least muster up a sincere sounding apology when you've not held up your responsibilities. Do you think that any nation's embassy in the United States would ever suffer an attack like that?

ARUSHA, Tanzania (AP) — President Bush was swept up in an outpouring of affection Monday in Tanzania's rural north, where tens of thousands lined the road to see him, one woman burst into a dance of joy just from a hug and fierce-looking Maasai warriors leapt and chanted in his honor.
Midway through a trek through five African nations that have benefited from U.S. largesse, Bush spent the day in Mount Kilamanjaro's massive shadow to reinforce the strides being made with his malaria program. During stops at both a rural health complex and on a gleaming factory floor, Bush showcased real-life benefits of the U.S.-led fight against the mosquito-borne disease that kills a million young children each year in impoverished tropical countries.

The president launched a five-year, $1.2 billion plan in 2005 to cut malaria deaths in half in the hardest-hit countries, most of them in sub-Saharan Africa. It leverages private sector support to provide indoor spraying, cutting-edge drugs and vouchers for a 75% discount off the purchase of insecticide-treated bed nets. Congress so far has put $425 million into the plan and Bush says it has reached 25 million people in two years

Exactly.

Vel -

Thn perhaps you should ask yourelf whether or not you really respect the concept of 'freedom'.

Freedom? What does freedom have to do with the U.S. sending taxpayer money to Egypt?

Supporting the right of other peoples to live in freedom.

That is what it has to do with it.

People certainly have the right to live in freedom, but that doesn't mean they should expect to be able to treat others badly and then have them pay their bills. We will be a long time forgetting that they allowed our flag to be pulled down and a foreign flag raised over U.S. sovereign territory and couldn't even muster a decent apology.
