Obama Losing Independents - 2010 In Play

I'm an independent who voted for Obama, and no longer support him.

That said, I'm done with Republicans who toss away principle in order to look "nice". Another W or McCain-type candidate, and I'll vote for Barry again.

The republican right wing tried to push their favorite candidate Rudy G ...it was the republican VOTERS who said they prefered a moderate John McCain

That article claims this looks like 1994?

Clinton was around 40% approval in 1994. The Democrats in Congress had a 29% approval rating in Jul. 1994.

Obama is currently at 51% and the Democratic Congress is currently at 36%.

Also, I wonder what the approval for congressional Republicans was in 1994.

I know Republican congressional approval is at 27% right now.

McCain was as much the media's candidate as anyone's.

Fact is, the Dems ran against Bush more than McCain in 2008.

That is getting tougher to do these days...

The republicans have nobody of McCains calibre for 2012. It was the republican primary voters who selected McCain, not the media.

Now the rebublicans lack a candidate who has an impressive reputation. Even Bob Dole was a well respected Senator when he ran.

The one republican who is best suited to be president is Jeb Bush. But we all know the problems he faces

And yet, the Repubs gain in the generic poll.

Obamacare sees its lowest approval ratings to date.

Governor, Senate, and Congressional races are leaning in the Repubs favor.

Times Are A Changin'....

As you concede defeat

When asked to name a specific electable candidate better than John McCain you select "Generic Rassmussen poll"

3 years before the last election the dems had Hillary as their candidate, and Obama really wasn't even on the radar. It's just way too early to start picking and choosing, just let the republicans find their way in the process.

True enough...

Your right as far as who voted for McCain, but the media really did play a key role in getting him elected. The media is a strong factor in bending and twisting on whatever they support. It was the media that pretty much ended the war in Viet Nam, for example.

Okay first independents aren't a monlithic block. What turns off some will make others happy.

Beck is a self proclaimed libertarian. He isn't running for anything.

O'Reilly is the countries best known and apprently most trusted independent. Outside the social issues the dude isn't really very conservative at all. When it comes to economics he is evemn more ignorant than most leftists and spouts pretty much the same bilge.

I don't trust O'Reilly, never have.

Good points - Republicans like diversity, as long as it looks, walks, talks, and believes EXACTLY as they do.

What a fool.
So that's why Ron Paul, Lincoln Chafee, and Rudy Giuliani, and Kay Bailey Hutchinson are all Republicans? Because they all think alike?
Get a grip.

Its why they've been so successful in the GOP.

Because they are a diverse group and the GOP is made up of diverse elements.
Yes, exactly.

So are you saying the democrats looks, walks, talks, and believes exactly the same, and that's why they're successful? Doesn't leave much room for diversity, does it?

Democrats, like all left wingers, kill their dissenters. Look at Lieberman and Zell Miller, both pariahs in the party.

Yes, exactly.

The point is that the above mentioned politicians have been pushed aside by the right wing monolith that is now the republican party.

Anyone who dares to adopt a moderate position is immediately shouted down, much like a healthcare town hall meeting

Yeah, Zell Miller said that he didn't leave the party, the party left him. I don't really have to wonder what he meant by that.

Pushed aside?
Hutchinson is running for governor. Paul is still in Congress. Giuliani was key note speaker at the convention. Chaffee just lost re election.
Any other left fantasies you'd care to spin?

Yep. Ron Paul and his supporters are the laughing stock of the GOP. Several elements in the GOP would love to see Kay switch parties or just lose, and Rudy couldn't win a single state in the Primaries.

Conservatives are not interested in supporting anyone that will not toe the line. That's their choice of course, but its also one that costs them in the long run every time. You do NOT win elections without the moderates, and you don't get them if you're not willing to at least try to accept moderate positions.
