I've been poor......being poor is overrated.

I've been poor. Poor to the point of being envious of today's poor who have it mightly comfortable.

However, there are those who see the car, the nice place to live, the law degree, and they say "Your daddy gave you everything. You came from a rich family. You never had to work. Everything was handed to you."

Lots of rich people today in fact came from very poor backgrounds and that is why they are rich, they were bound and determined NOT to be poor. My husband and i are not rich by any means, and we only live in a 1500 sq foot house, but it is 10 times better than anything either one of ever lived in as a child. We are better than our parents.

Actually today if you look at the Forbes Billionaires list you will find a lot more of the new billionaires are coming from old money. It used to be more people who created, manufactured or invented things but today its coming from Wallstreet investors. They don't produce anything. Not a lot of Bill Gates or Oprah's. Self made billionaires.

Today its a lot harder. You can try to start a new business but what will make you successful? Demand. And right now the market isn't very entreprenurial friendly. Its a bad economy. And good luck getting a loan. Back in your day, it was easier to get a loan. Its little shit like that that older people don't understand. The GOP rigged the system so its not fair anymore. We're not saying its impossible to be successful, just a lot harder. And Republicans won't acknowledge that or try to fix it. And I know why. Because they benefit from it. The rich have never been richer. And you middle class righties are probably just trying to protect the status quo, even though you too got fucked by Wallstreet too.

This is why we shouldn't have complained when factory union workers were making $35 hr. Now we cry because those jobs are coming back at $10 hr. Can't have it both ways. Those people making $35 hr bought shit. And it trickled down.

And healthcare was more affordable for our parents than its going to be for our kids. How they gonna save anything when they are paying an extra $3000 a year for healthcare that our parents didn't have to pay?

Or $4 a gallon on gas. Even if you make as much as your parents, you aren't saving as much. And they bought houses for $50K and sold them for $200K. Lucky them. We got fucked. So I guess it sort of depends on your individual situation. If you are rich you actually got richer in the last decade. But most people didn't.

And today for every 1 job, 5 people are looking. Is that how it was back in your day?

When my grandma was in her 20's, they started a business by getting a loan from the milk man, cigarette vending machine man, pie guy, etc. Can you do that today? NO! Today you have to have $200K minimum. So things aren't like they used to be.

But the overall point was that Ann has no connection to the experience of the average woman.

Michelle had a career, which is a similar experience to many women, Ann did not.
