NYT - "there can never be a justification for any lethal assault on an unarmed man,"

If that cop wasn't wearing a badge and he put someone in a choke hold like that , it would be assault.

Well of course that's true but so what?. Cops are given special powers. They are also allowed to speed and run red lights in pursuit of a criminal. THINK

True, but when your CO says "this choke hold isn't allowed" and you use it anyway, that's assault.

Various other non-lethal methods could have been employed. The chokehold employed is actually banned for Police-use in NY. If they had followed proper procedure, the man would likely still be alive. So them skating on his really is preposterous. They all have to be held accountable. The anger on this is justified.

The chokehold is not banned as in illegal. It's just a department policy.

Fact remains this thug would be alive if he had not resisted arrest. The cops don't know if you're armed or not.

The officer didn't follow procedure and a man is dead. There has to be a price to pay for that. There has to be accountability. Accident or not, he did kill an innocent man. People should be angry about this awful injustice. Can't blame them.

Correct, the man's underlying health issues are irrelevant. Police procedure says "no choke holds" and you apply a choke hold, you should be charged with a crime.

LEOs do have a greater power, and with that power comes a greater responsibility.

Yes, a real injustice was done on this one. Despite what the Big Brother-Worshippers believe, the Police are not a special protected class. They're Citizens just like the rest of us. And they should be treated as such. The officer brutally strangled a man to death. He should now face justice just like any other Citizen would.

Because i can assure you, if you were to strangle a man to death, you would be in jail right now. People need to continue demanding justice on this. Hopefully, they won't forget.

The problem is though, that people clamor on and on about the illegitimate cases (Mike Brown) so much that when a legitimate case of police abuse comes along, people are just sick of hearing it.

I'm not saying that's right, I'm simply saying that's the case.
