NRA Robocalls In Newtown Spark Outrage

The residents being able to defend themselves is simply horrible.

/sarcasm off

Doesn't the despicable insensitivity of this bother anyone? Imagine being one of the victim's parents and receive such a call from the NRA.

I'm sure rational people would understand that the NRA didn't kill anyone. Key word -rational.

If the 2nd Amendment isn't obsolete - why do state and federal courts and legislatures keep reinterpreting what it means? It's nothing more than a curtain rod with a fossil dangling from it. It's somewhat like a chameleon that is whatever color SCOTUS says it is at any given time. Its meaning will continue to change...

because many are like you and they cant figure out if it means just a Militia or people included.....if you are for Reasonable Gun rights......like you say you are.....i would think the word People in there means just that.....THE PEOPLE....meaning the Citizens of this Country....otherwise why did they not use the word Militia there too?....then there would have been no question who has the right....

You can speculate and split hairs all you wish. Bottom line - the 2nd Amendment means whatever SCOTUS says it means at any point in time. SCOTUS has clearly shown that it no longer means what it originally meant.

Does the 2nd Amendment allow you to legally own fully automatic firearms? Why?

until someone changes it or the meaning of the word Arms......then i guess it does....and if Congress hasn't got the balls to sit down and do something one way or another then i guess it will stay the way it is....

The NRA is being led by a group of thugs. Their message is even a lie. The majority of people support both Universal background checks and even limits on assault rifles and magazines.

To call the parents of children that died at the hand of a sick gunman in unthinkable. Wayne LaPierre is a drooling goon, who even goes back on previous statements. The days of the NRA are limited....ala GOP is they continue to eat off their plate.

Really? When did majority rules ever apply to the Constitution? Last I checked never. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say the words "except when a majority feels otherwise."

Poll analysis by Sarah Dutton, Jennifer De Pinto, Anthony Salvanto and Fred Backus

Soon after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced an assault weapons ban would not be part of a gun control bill, a new CBS News poll shows support for stricter gun control laws overall has dropped since the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Currently, support for stricter gun control laws stands at 47 percent today, down from a high of 57 percent just after the shootings. Thirty-nine percent want those laws kept as they are, and another 11 percent want them made less strict.

The NRA call says that everyone is up in arms about gun control. That is a lie...as is much of what they say.

Quinnipiac: 56 Percent Support Assault Weapons Ban | TPM LiveWire

Despite the increasingly dim prospects for an assault weapons ban to earn congressional approval, a poll released Thursday showed that a wide majority of American voters is in favor of such a prohibition.

The latest poll from Quinnipiac University found that 56 percent of registered voters nationwide support a ban on the sale of assault weapons, compared with just 39 percent who are opposed.

Just a matter of time Steph until another whacko shoots up a school, a movie theather, or a shopping mall. You know that. Then the numbers will increase again. It is expected that the further away from Newtown we get, the less support. Sooner or later, rational thoughts will win and reasonable controls will take place. It is a matter of time.

As long as the NRA keeps writng those big checks to republican congressmen, the GOP will carry their bloody banner...
