No Victory in Iraq says Petraeus

The Kurds have progressed further along than the rest of the nation and seem to have a much better understanding of their desired long term goals.
The Kurds that live in Iraq want to break away and form their own nation.

A large minority of Kurds live in both Iran and Turkey. Both of these groups want to break away and join the Iraqie Kurds in forming a nation.

Neither Turkey or Iran will let this happen without a fight.

There will be a future conflict in that region someday.

The Kurds have a right to their independence. They are the ancient Medes of the Bible (MedoPersian Empire) and have a long, long history as an individual culture and as a people.

If the United States were to dismember the terrorist nation of Iran and break it into 21 different countries to accomodate all the persecuted minorities in that hellish and satanic nation where minorities have a habit of disappearing like the Jews did over the past thousand years, the highest priority should be given to the establishment of a Kurdish State. As I point out to many, they are not Arabs and it was wrong of England to create artificial countries like Iran and Iraq where these beautiful people could be oppressed.

Victory? How about a success? The primary goal was to remove Saddam Hussein and his government from power. Done.

We then appointed a interim government to hold elections to all the people to elect their own government. Done.

We've spent more than enough time training their security forces.

We have provided Iraq with all the tools to succeed. We can't do it for them. "Victory" will be on the people and government of Iraq, not us and anyone spinning it any other way is just plain full of shit.

Regime change may have been accomplished, but Iraq is still bitterly divided. All we did was swap one ruling party for another. Saddam was the force that kept a lid on the sunni and shia. His departure is the reason for the current civil and regional war. While I agree he was an evil and ruthless dictator, he did serve as a wedge between the groups. Also the overall reason given was the war on terrorism. The CIA and FBI mulled over 10 years and 70,000 pages of documents to find a link. There is none, everyone in the intelligence community understands that prior to the invasion, Iraq was not a threat of terrorism. The intelligence was cherry picked the same way a prosecutor makes his case in court. The admin wrapped their intelligence around the policy, rather then policy around the intelligence. The policy to go to war with Iraq was already made, Rumsfeld and Co then seeked out intelligence to bolster and prove their case. The Iraq war was one giant clusterfuck, and a stable Iraq is a laughable pipe dream..
