No one can give me a rational reason why

This will happen to a certain, tiny, percentage of guns, regardless what anyone does.
Its impossible to rationally conclude this fact supports a sound argument that average law abiding citizen should not be allowed to own firearms.
Actually the "average" law abiding citizen knows shit about firearms. They're the one's who shoot themselves trying to clean them. Or who can't hit the broadside of a barn.

How does this translate to a sound argument against average law abiding citizen owning firearms.?
I don't see anyone trying to make the claim that grandma should have to take her pills at the pharmacy every day because so much is stolen and kills so many. Heck, they send you home with Oxycodone if you have a minor surgery. That could so easily be stolen, because there are no laws mandating pill safes and that no pills are ever out in the open in your house.

You actually make my point. Along with all those millions of uses, comes the sale, borrowing or theft of some of them.

That amounts to around 380,000 stolen guns every year, many of which are later used to commit violent crimes.
Democrats have released over a hundred thousand violent felons from prison early the last few years alone.

And here we are with a gun charge against Hunter and you Leftards are saying no big deal.

And what are the numbers on people who shoot themselves cleaning a gun compared to the number of guns in circulation right now?

Fact remains:

Some people just hate guns so much they are incapable of rational thought.

It absolutely supports the "average" law abiding citizen shouldn't have a gun. Just like the "average" driver shouldn't have a Lamborghini or a McLaren.

Absolutely?
According to you, because less than 1 gun in 1000, not all of which are privately held, are stolen, lost, misplaced, etc, the average citizen should not have access to any of the >999.
What makes this make sense to you?

Unsupportable nonsense.

Maybe you could make the case that the "average" law abiding citizen should think carefully before starting a lifetime of gun ownership. Of course, you "should" start with the easier to handle, smaller and lighter guns until you gain familiarity with them, learn how to safely handle them, clean them, store them, and use them. Heck, start with non-lethal air rifles and pistols until you really understand how to handle the hardware. Once you develop the routine of safe gun handling, move up. Let's face reality, for hundreds of years, the average American was able to purchase and keep firearms of all sorts out of a catalog. Send in a check and it shows up on your doorstep (or you go down to the post office to pick it up). No one shot up schools or shopping malls. It's harder now to get guns, and people are shooting up schools and shopping malls. What changed? Not the guns.

You also "should" start using alcohol by drinking lower alcohol drinks and understanding what it does to you before, as a freshman girl in college, you go to a frat party and get so blasted you end up with an STD and pregnant with no memory of it happening, or God forbid, you black out and kill someone with your car.

And the average driver is not forbidden to buy said Lambo or McLaren, if he can afford one.

So the law abiding person is responsible if they are the victim of a theft?

So it's your fault if your car gets stolen, it's your fault if you get mugged and it's a woman's fault if she gets raped right?

Absolutely?

Even Sheriff Andy Taylor knew that "average" individuals were dangerous if armed. That's why Deputy Barney Fiff, was only allowed ONE BULLET.

Meanwhile you want the "average" citizen to have unlimited weapons, and unlimited ammunition.

It takes mandated training and testing to drive a car, yet none to shoot a gun.

That's why it happens so little
