But it's tied to an increase in the cost of living...and it has not increased.

They'll all have their taxes go up though on midnight 1/1/2011....substantially.

So they say, but to people going to the store and seeing package sizes shrink while prices stay the same. The idea that the cost of living has not gone up is pretty insane to them.

Medicare is not a "blank check." The remibursements suck and providers are dumping it left and right. The only thing government can do to contain costs is to force doctors to accept the same reimbursement for all health insurance that they do for Medicare and Medicaid. Then, let's see what happens next.

Friend, I lost my Dad last May and have a 88 year old mother. Medicare IS blank check. The disease care doctors have it figured out. The reimbursements are to be paid within 30 days so fraud is rampant. The ONLY reimbursement area that "sucks" is primary care,doctorvisits for check ups and such which the elderly take advantage of. The disease care industry is very profitable. Home health care is a big fraud.
Get this: My father was 89 and the home health care billed 8 hours of speech therapy at $150 an hour 1 week before he died, 2 hours of OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY and 16 hours of a private nurse. All refered by a DOCTOR. And they tried to give himmood stabilizers and 12 other drugs. Combined for the 2 weeks before he died was 16K and Medicare paid. You get the paperwork in 3 months AFTER they pay the bill. Recent GAO studies, as reported on FOXa month ago, 25% of ALL Medicare is FRAUD.
We had Do Not Resucitate ORDERS in ALL the hospitals, all of the doctors Dad went to and al lof the health care home providers for18 months before he died.
They ignored them all and ran up $112,000.00. Medicare paid 80% of it and we refused to pay the balance. And I got to them and made them unhook Dad per his orders, living will and help from the Hospice. The language in the Obama bill, the few things that they got right,that allowed right to die counseling to bepaid forby medicare IS A GOOD THING.
And doctors and the health care industry fight it because they will not be able to dowhat they did to us anymore.
Believe me, Medicare is a rip off system and it is DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS and all in between that rip it off. All government does is pay the bills. It is a good thing they have cut the bills.
Do not believe the doctors. THEY LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL.

Medicare pays a pittance compareed to any other health insurance. And it denies more claims than any other.

The Democrats keep telling us that there are no problems and everything's just fine with Social Security but they said the same thing back when Barney Frank stated that Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac were "Fundamentally sound" and that critics were exaggerating the problems. He chose to viciously attack the people who voiced their concerns over Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac instead of addressing the problems. He is the person most responsible for the terrible economic collapse that eventually came. Now the Democrats are viciously attacking those who are voicing their concerns over Social Security too. If you will bother to research the credible facts and figures you will find that Social Security will continue to pay full benefits until the mid-2030s if nothing at all is done to update it. But if the retirement age is appropriately updated it will continue paying indefinitely. And if you know of a good reason why the eligibility age should not be updated, please tell us what it is.

But whatever your thoughts in the matter, keep in mind that George W. Bush wanted to privatize Social Security, i.e., transfer the entire fund to Wall Street. Imagine where the millions of dependent Social Security beneficiaries would be today if he'd been able to pull that off.

Social security was NEVER intended to be a living wage. It was passed as a supplemental system.
