Next Up: a "Flat Tax" for the Rich

This taxless, governmentless, society you speak of is most interesting. Does it come with people sporting mohawks, dressed in black leather, riding around the desert on crudely fashioned motorcars and bikes fighting for oil?
Typically weak attempt at the strawman, sport...Even for you.

Just because I'm against bloated, expensive, overbearing and micromanaging gubmint doesn't mean that I'm for none at all.

Try again.

It's a necessary evil if a society is to survive. The Founders gave a present to us and let us decide how much is too much. And if these cretins would bother to read the Federalist Papers, or the Anti Federalists...they'd see it.

Why should the government place a value judgment on sources of income?

A low flat tax for everyone combined with shrinking the size of government would benefit everyone except for the blood sucking parasite who feed off of the government picking winners and losers.

Actually, they would benefit also. The people acquiring power through the redistribution mechanism would be the losers.

Well Somalia has a pretty thin, cheap, very open ended "gubmint". You may want to try your fortunes thar, Matey!

I hear pirating is pretty lucrative there too.

They are in disarray and don't have the structure you idiots tend to ignore. They are what is termed 'ANARCHY'.

Nice try.

Wow...Two cheap strawmen in a row.

C'mon....Go for the hat trick!:lol::lol:

We could probably cut the military budget in half...or by 2/3rds..and still be able to more then protect our homeland.

Invasions? Well we couldn't do that so easily anymore.

Just like a lib.... cut the military!

How about cut entitlements and implement a fair tax or flat tax on ALL OF US?

We need the military.... we dont fat idiots sitting at home collecting welfare and I am sick and tired of supporting illegals who have no buisiness being here.

Take your "cut the miltary by 2/3rds" and shove it up your ass!

"In other words, the Obama tax increases are targeted at those who are largely responsible for capital formation.

Capital formation is the life blood for job creation.

"As jobs are created, more people pay income, Social Security and Medicare taxes.

"As the economy grows, corporate income tax receipts grow. Rising corporate profits provide an underpinning to the stock market, so capital gain and dividend tax collections increase.

"A pro-growth, low marginal personal tax rate stimulates capital formation and GDP, which triggers a higher level of tax receipts for the other sources of government revenue."

Capital formation isn't being used for job creation today to the same extent as 1993.

It's more likely to be spent in the Wall Street Casino.

It would be nice if you could forgo the conservative economic pep talk and supply just a few little snippets of fact.

There is little evidence that tax cuts spur economic activity. Were that true the Bush years would have brought us boom times. Instead we got a recession and damn near an economic collapse. Economic activity was as great or greater when we had a 90% marginal rate.

ExxonMoblie made about 19 billion in profits and paid not one single dime in Federal taxes.

But lets keep doing that. Maybe someday it will turn out right?

You are wrong. There is plenty of evidence that tax cuts spur economic growth.

Look again.
The question I have is how far down the economic ladder will tax cuts spur economic growth in today's economy?

Certainly the richest 1 - 2% of the population will thrive from FIRE sector economic growth like derivatives and other activities that appear to have more in common with gambling than job creation.

Add another 8 - 10% for the professionals that service the rich.

How much economic growth can the remaining 88 - 90% of Americans expect?

Well..it basically isn't..

But now that we are at 50 states, close to 300 million people, a 13 trillion dollar economy, over 700 military bases worldwide, a standing army over 500k strong, 5000 nukes, a navy bigger then all of the navys in the world, combined, roads, bridges, electrical grids, airports, seaports, public transportation systems, water systems, and hooks into every financial system in the world; what kind of small, "limited", "gubmint" do you propose the manage all that?

Norquist's starving the "beast" and Friedman's trickle down have failed miserably.

Hey...I'm all for cutting the military....Where it desperately needs to be cut, that is.

American troops stationed in 120+ nations is just too damned expensive.

Could we use the Pentagon to build high speed freight/ passenger rail lines AND universal high speed fiber optic internet from Maine to Maui?

In other words, is Unemployment a National Security issue?

If we bring the troops home, shouldn't we have jobs waiting?
Or maybe we could just let the people who earned that money, which is now being wasted, keep it for themselves, to best decide how to spend, save or invest.
Does a small business owner working 70 to 80 hours per week for $250,000/year deserve to keep her "earnings' in the same way someone "earning" $50,000,000/year deserves his?

Well, basically it is a total strawman.

Shrinking an obviously bloated military-industrial complex doesn't necessarily have to supply spoiled rotten little progressive brats with more money for their domestic do-goodery....Those funds would find a much better purpose being left in the hands of the productive sector economy.

And you can't say that starving the beast is a failure, because it hasn't even been tried...Same with so-called "trickle down", as the spending cuts half of the equation has also never been tried.

The great thing about being a consistent defender of freedom, is that I don't go around under the arrogant pretense that I can decide who is and isn't "deserving" of their earnings.

Sure it has..starving the beast led to mines collapsing, oil rigs blowing up, Bernie Maddoff walking away with 20 billion dollars, tainted dog food, tainted human food and a financial meltdown that almost sunk the world economy. And "trickle-down" been tried several times..failing several times. The real salary of the average joe has not grown in the last decade or so..while the high flying risk takers are making a bundle.

Yes.... yes he/she does..... THEY EARNED IT, its theirs!

That person earning $50,000,000/year didnt get that by sitting on their ass and doing nothing. They started a buisiness that employs hundreds or even thousands, and yes they deserve every penny of their earnings.

Otherwise why would someone put all their capital into a buisiness just to give it all away?

This arguement is retarded.

I can get on board with that, but that does'nt automatically mean their budget should be cut... just move them to our borders and REALLY portect us.

Then we can talk about what needs to be cut and not cut.... just sayin'
