If employers were punished for hiring illegals, a lot of this crap would end. But, it seems employers like hiring illegals because it is cheaper than paying Americans to do the job, and capitalists side with them. As long as there are jobs, illegals will come. When will that sink in?

However from a practical standpoint, having people driving with no insurance not having passed a driving test is pretty scary. Not having a drivers license does not keep people from driving.

There is no promise of amnesty in the immigration reform bill for those that cross illegally today. The closest thing to amnesty is “registered provisional” status. To get this status, you must be able to prove you have lived in US since Dec 31, 2011. You must pay a $500 fine, pay all back taxes owed, and be free of felonies and misdemeanors convictions. It would be stupid to cross illegally now because you would not be able to apply for the new visas and green cards.

BTW There is no way of knowing the number of illegal crossing. We only know the number caught which has increased because we have been stepping up efforts to stop illegal crossing over the last year.

If you habitually jaywalk or have an outstanding warrant, a cop who catches you for jaywalking will arrest you. And sometimes J-walking can cause serious road accidents that lead to more serious charges in Nevada.
