Rising peak demand and the planned retirement of 83 GW of fossil fuel and nuclear generation over the next 10 years creates blackout risks for most of the United States, the North American Electric Reliability Corp. said Wednesday in its annual Long-Term Reliability Assessment.

While most regions should have sufficient electricity supply in normal weather, both the Northeast and Western half of the U.S. face an elevated risk of blackouts in extreme conditions. And parts of the Midwest and central South areas could see power supply shortfalls during normal peak operations.

To address the growing risk, NERC said new gas capacity is needed, the nation’s transmission network must be expanded and grid planners must develop processes to better account for variable resources and the interconnected nature of the power and gas sectors.

Damn, I’d better cut more firewood! ;)

So.....The government mandates renewable energy by subsidizing its construction, and then subsidizing its production, all with your tax dollars.

Traditional units are penalized via the EPA and other rogue government agencies.

The only problem is traditional units are dispatchable and show up when needed, you know, these are the units they are forcing out.

Mandate 881 will further stress the transmission system itself, making it operate without any safety buffer on capacity but instead on the edge of failure constantly.....Sort of like Texas.

If you can't see this as a dem led government attack on our country I don't know what is wrong with you.
