You said you're applying. Are you worried about the application interview or what you'll need when you get there as a student? For an interview, a trim and a suit are in order. I wouldn't go hog wild or overly conservative. Think neat and respectful without making yourself uncomfortable.

Maddy's right. Once you get there the people you'll need to worry about are the other students, not the faculty. The faculty are going to haze you for the first year no matter what you look like.

Seriously, once you're there just be who you are. Being part of the team will help you tremendously, you'll find out just how much when you get there. And how you look right now is perfect. American students with a very few exceptions tend to be casual.

You will need business attire and to think about your professional image a year or two down the road, but when you get there you'll have a better idea where you're going and what you'll need. Different career paths mean different styles, I wouldn't bother with it now.

I'm applying very soon to law school, and was wondering if I should cut my hair. I'm looking around the Texas area and I think that's more conservative than many areas.

I'm from Britain, so just need a bit of advice on this.

Need some new clothes too. People do tend to judge by appearances, whether we like it or not.

I'm also a bit older - 23 - though I may not look it. Hope that won't make any difference.

A few good polo shirts and nice pants will make you look like a law-student. It's not too dressy, yet you're not underdressed. A suit is a little much to wear all the time at the beginning.

I give my best guy friend's fashion advice from time to time, too, so incase you wanted to know my credentials for this advice. (ha).

Your hair is fine as well. Especially in the first pic in ekrem's post. Perfect.
Don't let it get longer, and if you cut it just cut it enough where you can style it a little on top.

Well, the Army was another thought. Law school is only one idea.

You look fine. I do recommend reading up on the job prospects for law school graduates, especially if you are thinking about taking on student loan debt to get a law degree.

There's a glut of attorneys in the U.S., many of them very underemployed.
