My President, Right or Wrong: Bush

I gotta ask. I wasn't on political forums until I think it was May 2010.

Were there a bunch of liberals during the Bush Administration, loudly and vehemently protesting that Bush wasn't THEIR president?

Everything Bush did was in some way "messed up". The mess after Katrina. The fact he put Bible school graduates into the Justice Department after firing accomplished lawyers. Threatening scientists unless they changed their data to match his policy was terrible. There was nothing that was a real success and lots that were major disasters. As long as the Republicans stay the "We are proud to be stupid" party, anyone they manage to get elected will simply be another disaster. The world is a complex place. It can't be run by simple minds.

I don't remember ever reading that. What they said was "Bush is stupid" and "Bush lied America into war" and "What happened to Bin Laden" and "Republicans are redistributing the wealth to the top and helping move jobs to China.

You can pretty much look at all of Bush's disasters and understand why Americans were angry. It's why a wave of Democrats were voted into office. Then the wave of Republicans that followed were because the public felt the Democrats weren't cleaning up Republican mess fast enough. But these Republicans have been letting America take a good long look. They aren't liking what they see.

If you despised Bush - what did he do right.

I can't stand the guy, but going in to Afghanistan to get the Taliban and Bin Laden was the right thing to do for the country at that time. Additionally, he increased money going to fight the spread of AIDS in Africa.

Literally, those are the only two things he did right.

I admire his sense of humor

I can absolutely agree with all that.

For both men, I admire their love and devotion to their wife and children.

By the time he leaves office, hopefully in Jan. 2013, he very may have made Jimmy Carter look good. I have come to a conclusion, based on political philosophy, that Obama's agenda is socialist, and that the man is either doing the things he is doing to drive this country down on purpose, or he is just incompetent.

I disagree ONLY to the extent that your posts suggests (insinuates or implies) that President Obama is somehow not already the worst President ever, including Jimmah Carter.

I voted for the man twice, but I was not politically aware until Obama took the stage. And if you doubt that, then you're not paying enough attention. MOST Americans are as I was back then. They vote party, for no good reason. "He's against abortion? I'm against abortion! Count me in!" And so it goes.

I'd like to believe y'all can maintain your dignity long enough to not bring the current POTUS into it. Use your TARDIS, travel back to say October 2008, and start typing.

Response to 9/11 (not the patriot act but his general speeches and afghanistan)
Tax Cuts
Lead based on his personal values/convictions instead of polling and political expediency (example, the surge)
