The census workers went through six weeks of training, much of it involving how to deal with difficult people such as yourself. Why would she blow her job? Get real, lady.

So yesterday, I was at my Mom's house, in the most socialist state of our country. Why I am here is irrelevant.

Anyway, this woman knocks on my Mom's door, and I was almost afraid to answer it because she looked like some sort of creek creature/methhead?????

I opened the door and she started grilling me immediately, "who are you,?" "Why are you here?" "wheres the woman of the house?" She did not identify herself,and I had to look at the clipboard she was carrying before I realized that she was a census worker aka redcoat.

I told her I was at my mothers house and I dont live here so I could not answer her questions. She persisted, and I said it it none of your damned buisness what I am doing here. She then told me that I MUST tell her. MUST.

I became quite enraged at this point and told her that my is mother at the hospital with her daughter who is undergoing a life threatening procedure. Then I told her to get out of my face.

In the next post I will tell you of my second encounter with said census worker AND her husband AKA another census worker, on the same property, the following day.

Needless to say, I am livid, considering what is happening to my sister and my families state of affairs

Cool, maybe they'll stop fixing the roads and sidewalks in your mom's neighborhood.

Curious ... what is the department of transportation for, the dept of education etc etc ?

the census does hire some people of ill repute because the job is temporary.

They are probably workfare people, who are recovering drug addicts.

Some census workers may be the elderly, retired. But the job is temporary so
the people who do it are the temporary type.

But also Pixie, keep in mind not everyone who works for the Census is rude like that lady. They hire people from all walks of life, just like any other job out there.

I heard on the news about 20 times, that they will not come to your house if you fill it out. And it is a scam if they do.

I note by your OP that this would have occurred on Saturday. However, from the various items I've been looking at, the census workers didn't even start door-to-door until today, Monday, so it's quite possible that person was NOT a census taker, especially since your description was one of a rather disheveled person?

In any case, she should have been wearing a badge as well as verbally introduced herself. If she was a scammer, then you have a right to be upset. But if she was and your hackles immediately went up BECAUSE she was a census taker, the whole thing was not going to go well period.

By this time, I would have called 911. In fact, if you suspected in the least they they were not census workers, you should have notified the authorities. The link I provided warns of scammers.

That's not true. They will come for a variety of reasons--missing information being primary.
