MORE total Pubcrappe- the RW flames the Volt

The only thing good out of GM is their LS V8 engines.

The Volt is just totally overpriced as it is now. If they can ever get the price down, then it would make sense for some people to buy it.

To this day there is simply nothing more efficient as the gasoline engine. The power, the ease of refueling, the safety, and the cost are vastly superior to any other alternative. Not to mention that today's vehicles emit 97% fewer emissions compared to 50 years ago. Thats been quite a technological and engineering feat, yet it's still not good enough for libs. Instead they want to use government to force people to change from a perfectly clean and cheap techonology to an expensive, inefficient one.

General Motors is resuming production of the Chevy Volt a week earlier than planned due to an unexpected rise in demand for the extended-range electric car.

It also says in the same story there is another planned shutdown this Summer.

Just saying.....

It's a neat car......just not very affordable or practical.

Isn't GM doing another recall on the Volt? Something about the charging system/cable......

The North American based automaker Chevrolet has recently announced a recall for the popular Volt model, because of a problem with its XM satellite radio.

After the Chevrolet Volt has been under an NHTSA investigation, not too long ago, because of a potential fire risk on its battery pack, influencing its sales targets, the “green” model is once again placed into the spotlights, in another negative light, because of a problem with its XM satellite radio. Even if this might seem like a minor issue on the Volt, the fact that it was investigated by the NHTSA because of a fire risk, adding the problem with the satellite radio can only decrease the model’s sales.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, owners of the Chevrolet Volt with XM satellite radio installed can’t pick up the Fox station and after some complaints were received by GM from loyal Fox News audience, the recall became a possibility. We won’t say anything about “life threating situations, injuries or crashes” related to this incident because this is not the case. Owners of the Chevy Volt, with the XM satellite radio installed, will be notified soon by the car manufacturer, and they will have to take a trip back to the dealers where the problem will be solved free of charge.

The lies, sabotage, and idiocy never stop- see also the Fiskerin THIS regard...

Inside, the mood was upbeat. A month earlier, the Volt had been named European Car of the Year. It was coming off its best sales month yet, with some 2,200 cars sold. Its problems with the government — which conducted a severe rollover test that caused a Volt to catch fire — appeared to be over; the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had given the Volt its highest crash-safety rating.

Between bites of eggs and bacon, the Volt owners gushed about how well the car drove — and how much gasoline they were saving. They were early adopters, of course, willing to pay a high price ($40,000 before a $7,500 tax credit) to get their hands on a new technology. Many of them had become nearly obsessed with avoiding the gas station; for those with short commutes, it could be months between fill-ups.

“When you talk to people about the car,” said Eric Rotbard, a lawyer in White Plains, “the killer moment is when you tell them you are getting 198 miles per gallon.” An owner at another table chimed in, “Is that all you get?” Everyone laughed.

Yet there was also an undercurrent of nervousness at the breakfast. A reporter for Fox News had been prowling the auto show, asking nasty questions about the Volt. For months, the conservative propaganda machine — including Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and Neil Cavuto, the Fox News business editor — had been mocking the Volt, and linking it to President Obama, who has long touted the promise of electric cars. Cavuto, who has called the Volt “roller skates with a plug,” was rumored to be going on the air that very night with yet another Volt hatchet job.

What is the connection between President Obama and the Volt? There is none. The car was the brainchild of Bob Lutz, a legendary auto executive who is about as liberal as the Koch brothers. The tax credit — which is part of the reason conservatives hate the car — became law during the Bush administration.

“It’s nuts,” said Lutz, when I spoke to him earlier in the week. “This is a significant achievement in the auto industry. There are so many legitimate things to criticize Obama about. It is inexplicable that the right would feel the need to tell lies about the Volt to attack the president.”

In his regular blog at Forbes, Lutz has tried to counter what he has called the “rabid, sadly misinformed right.” But he has largely given up. The last straw came when his conservative intellectual hero, Charles Krauthammer, described the Volt as “flammable.” Krauthammer, Lutz felt, had to know better. Although he remains deeply conservative, Lutz told me that he has become disenchanted with the right’s willingness to spread lies to aid the cause.

At the breakfast I attended, many of the Volt owners wanted General Motors to fight back. But Chris Perry, a G.M. marketing executive, cautioned that that would only bring more attention to the Volt’s status as “a political punching bag.” He added, “We are looking at the long term, and we know this is going to pass.” Which it surely will — after November.

As it turns out, Cavuto went easy on the Volt when his show aired that night. He used a recent article in The New York Times — about how long it takes for electric cars to reap savings for their owners — to take a few jabs at the electric car movement. But his guest that night was James Lentz, the president of Toyota Motors, who wanted to talk up the Prius, so Cavuto politely soft-pedaled his criticism. “Toys for the well-to-do” was the worst he was willing to go on this night.

Not to worry, though. With seven months to go before the election, Cavuto and his Fox News brethren will have plenty of opportunities to denigrate an innovative car, employing American technology and creating American jobs, in order to besmirch a president who had nothing to do with it.

It is, after all, what they do.

for a guy that thinks the volt can run forever recharging itself , well, you really should take a pass on this shit junior....

Why can't the dupes mention the $7500 tax rebate? And thanks to technological advances learned from the Volt project, etc, costs are going down while gas inevitably will go up...That 97% increase only happened because of libs, and the dupes at the time said it was impossible- ALWAYS a disaster...

GM and Chrysler? Problem solved. The recovery stalled when Pubs got filibuster 2/2010...
GM is NEVER going to repay their debt. But you don't care about that.

Half the country won't buy Volts because the Pub Propaganda Machine made it a political decision. A-holes and dupes. Also sabotaging alternative energy. "No compromise, un-American" (TIME) a-HOLES!

Car reviewers, hardly a liberal bunch, think you're a bunch of lying a-holes LOL
Half the country won't buy Volts because it's not a practical car for them.

Idiot.

What whining from GM? And they say thank you all the time....probably not covered on the Pub Propaganda machine that owns you...

BTW, stockholders in bankrupt companies seldom do well...lol

They thanked their Dear Leader. They didn't thank the American Taxpayers. So fuck em.

Agreed. They won't get one plug nickel from ME.

I have an even better reason not to give GM any of my money:

The Volt has the equivalent of 1 gallon of gas charge of electricity. So it can go about 35 miles on a FULL charge. I call that unimpressive. But it's supposed to be good for the environment, right? Sorry Volt dupes, but you are in for another slap in the face by reality....

In 2007, national “average” CO2 emissions were 2.16 lbs per kWh from coal-fired generation and 1.01 lbs per kW for gas-fired generation. according to Power Systems Analysis. Given that 44.46 percent of electricity in the U.S. is coal-fired and 23.31 percent is gas-fired, on a national basis, then, the mean emission of CO2 per kWh is 1.2 lbs/kWh. (2.16 lbs/kWh x 0.4446 = 0.96 lbs/kWh from coal, plus 1.01 lbs/kWh x 0.2331 = 0.24 lbs/kWh from gas).

The Volt’s “emissions mileage” from its stored charge is then 16 kWh x 1.2 lbs/kWh divided by 35 MPG = 0.55 lb CO2/mile.

So on an “average” basis, the Volt emits more CO2 from battery use than from gasoline use (0.55 lbs/mile vs. 0.53 lbs/mile).

It's not green. It's not especially fuel efficient. It's not cheap. It's not selling. Liberals call this "Success" :cuckoo: :cuckoo:
But they intended well. And that's all that matters.

Please be a good little liberal and rush out and buy a Government Motors Volt while there are good deals.

If I had any respect for you I'd urge you spend some of the money you saved on upping your home's fire insurance.

But I have none so I won't.

A 7500 dollar tax rebate huh now where are they getting the 7500 to give back to the people who buy the Volt? Wouldn't that be from the taxpayers? So they needed taxpayer money to be bailed out and to build the Volt and now they have to bride people with taxpayer money to buy it it might just be me but it seems if your product was as great as it's claimed to be this would not be necessary.
