More Economic GOOD NEWS: New Home Sales Up 27%....largest jump in 47 years

Yes, how terrible of an idea it is for the government to ENCOURAGE new home sales by buying asking taxpayers to pay LESS taxes! Terrible! I thought you guys WANTED less taxes! :cuckoo:

Yes it IS terrible to have government forking out collected tax dollars in a program like that... even if I can benefit from it, it does not make it proper for our government to do

That money or break GIVEN by the government did not appear out of thin air... are you seriously suggesting it is a savings to give money or allowance in this break by funding it with more taxes that the government has collected and run thru the wasteful red tape machine??
THAT is what is :cuckoo:

And the tax breaks that George W. Bush gave to the richest 2% of the country ALSO didn't appear out of thin air, yet it cost taxpayers billions of dollars and along with the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, DOUBLED our national debt!

So, how about we just stop giving tax breaks and raise taxes on all income levels and then cut spending? This way, the government will have a surplus of tax income and less expenses along with it and our national debt will shrink!

Hmmm... 1) It was not just for the wealthiest Americans.... nice try on that myth AGAIN 2) I am not for just breaks on any 1 group... I am LOUDLY supportive of equal treatment in taxation in government with a flat tax rate on every dollar earned and the elimination of 'incentives' loopholes, etc for EVERY citizen... not a system where some pay more of a % and some pay less and definitely not a system where ~50% pay no income tax at all

And btw.... but Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooossssshhhhhhh

You have to understand people.......giving tax incentives to mega corporations that allow them to make more profits is just plain ....GOOD BUSINESS

Giving tax incentives to struggling Americans so they can buy their first home is......SOCIALISM

Well at least you got something through your thick skull.
Yes, tax incentives to work and create wealth is good.
Tax breaks to middle class Americans that produce no wealth is bad.

Now if you really believed and understood that you would have gotten good return for the hours you spend here spewing socialist/marxist crap.

New-home sales jump 27%, biggest gain in 47 years - USATODAY.com

WASHINGTON — Sales of new homes surged 27% last month, bouncing off the previous month's record low and blowing past expectations as better weather and government incentives boosted sales.
The Commerce Department said Friday that new-home sales rose in March to a seasonally adjusted annual sales pace of 411,000. It was the strongest month since last July and the biggest monthly increase in 47 years.

Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected a sales pace of 330,000. February's results were revised upward to 324,000, but remained an all-time low. Sales had been especially weak over the winter, partly due to bad weather in much of the country.

The median sales price was $214,000, up more than 4% from a year earlier but down more than 3% from February.

Can they PAY for the fucking things? Or will we be expected to do it again?? Whattayathink??

From my perspective (wife is a realtor - I a builder) getting a mortgage application through the underwiters is very difficult (much different than before); appraisals are way down, and buyers have lost the option of a choice selecting their own appraisers.

The potential buyers have become bored with the available stock which is shopworn and desn't offer sufficiently low bargain prices to forego building a custom home.

Builders, anxious to get back in the game, are pricing their product at amazingly low prices, so their is a surge of new building, and the price bottom is behind us.

this won't last. the 8k tax credit is about to run out so people are scrambling

How embarrassing for you. Helping business to stabilize and employ people is a good thing.

Handing cash to people to buy a house is not.

Are you stupid?

You don't believe the housing industry is a significant sector of our economy?

Are you STOOPID?

How is that a reasonable response to her post?
I'd ask if you're stupid, but the answer is blindingly obvious.

Is this a Rabbi post???

As usual, you have nothing to add to the discussion do you?

Nothing you would understand, anyway. Anyone who thinks gov't creates prosperity by taking money from one person and giving it to another won't ever understand this.

How is offering a tax cut "taking money from one person and giving it to another"

Haven't you read your own rhetoric? Tax cuts allow people to keep their own money

Yep. And the drastic decreae in May will be blamed on the weather.

I am not a fan of this administrations policies. But I can live with them as this is America at work; regardless of my own ideology.

But their lack of repsect of the intelligence of the American People is very disturbing.

except they aren't offering a tax cut but a tax credit for buying an item they probably would have bought anyway. And the loss in revenue has to be made up somewhere else.

To clasify it as a tax cut is completely wrong. It is a "Gift" from the Gov't. A one time gift. Very similar to the original mess and how it started.

Two things that piss off the Rabbi

1. Reporting that the economy is NOT failing

2. Offering tax incentives for working people

1. Reporting that the economy is NOT failing

2. Offering tax incentives for working people

1) The economy is still failing and the economics policies of this administration still set us up for failure
2) I am against tax incentives for working people, non-working people, retired people, dead people, unborn people, illegal people, etc... I am for equal treatment in taxation and not selective equality and buying voter groups off for votes with taxpayer monies

1) The economy is still failing and the economics policies of this administration still set us up for failure

We shall see...we shall see

The voters will decide whether they think the economy is in better shape or not.

Thats the way it always works

A vote does not change the economic situation... even if 51% are blinded by charisma or receive something as a direc benefit from the ones they place in power..

The economy is still hurting badly even when normal correction should have had us see more of a recovery by now (almost regardless of what person is in charge of the country)... and Obama's policies on spending, entitlements, etc are not helping even if the normal correction does start to happen a bit... we would indeed be better off economically with almost diametrically opposed policies to what Obama has

Actually, as I see it:

It all comes down to which candidate spins the truth the best.

Hey right winger. Be good my friend <S>

Actually what pisses me off is people who cant comprehend that gov't does not produce anything, it only transfers money from one person to another.
In this case it is transferring money from productive people and assets to unproductive people and assets. If you paid any taxes you'd be pissed off too.

INEFFECTIVELY transferrs money around... the red tape in the system wastes a TON of the funding set aside for projects, upkeep, etc

Inefficiently, you mean. Yeah, the "toll for the troll" is another drag on the economy.
