Millions on East Coast could be in Danger!

is anyone interested in me continuing with updates? If there aren't any to be affected, I will stop.

Sandy is a monster storm and could very well be heading to New York City.

It is safe to say that lives are in danger.

Emergency Preparedness for Hurricane Sandy

NYCHA advises residents and employees to take the following precautions to prepare for the effects of Hurricane Sandy on areas of New York City:

The following instructions are issued for your protection during the storm:

BEFORE THE STORM STRIKES

Keep all windows closed and locked. Pull down shades and draw drapes to protect against possible broken glass.
For NYCHA Residents: Assist the Authority by closing and locking all windows in stair halls, lobbies and other public spaces.
Have sufficient amounts of water for drinking purposes in the event of water supply interruption.
Have flashlights and extra batteries available for use in the event of a power failure.
Have a portable battery powered radio to listen for current weather announcements.

IF THE STORM STRIKES

Stay indoors, stay away from windows and avoid unnecessary travel, either on foot or by vehicle. If you must go out, make sure all windows are closed and locked and all water faucets are turned off.
Avoid using elevators whenever possible during the storm. If a power failure occurs while you are on an elevator, STAY CALM. Help will be on its way.
For NYCHA Residents: If electricity goes off in your building, or if other emergencies occur, call NYCHA's Customer Contact Center: (718) 707-7771.
Do not go near or touch any downed electrical wires because they are extremely dangerous.
Listen to your radio or television for the latest Weather Bureau reports and any instructions from the Mayors' Office of Emergency Management.
For your protection and the safety of your neighbors, please comply with all orders and official notifications received during the storm.
In the event of an emergency please call 911.

ONCE AGAIN, FOR YOUR SAFETY, PLEASE: KEEP ALL WINDOWS CLOSED AND LOCKED

Emergency Preparedness for Hurricane Sandy

I remember when Republicans wanted to cut "disaster relief". They said the US shouldn't be a "nanny state". Eric Cantor was leading the charge, until his district was hit by an earthquake and then a hurricane. God, these Republicans. So awful.

absolutely ridiculous to make this political before the storm hits.

Let this thread be used to warn people of what is possible and how to prepare to be self sufficient for days as they need to as it could be difficult for help to get in immediately.

Too late. Eric Cantor already said we need to cut disaster relief or tie it to some bill. Get it? He already said it. Past tense. It's been said. Pointing out what that ass hat said doesn't make me the bad guy. It makes those that defend him bad.

He's gonna put that money into ambassador security.....

Jim Cantore stated they are expecting 20 foot waves on the Great Lakes near Chicago from the fetch from Hurricane Sandy

right now, the south side of the storm is carrying the highest overall winds. So remember, just because the center passes, don't let your guard down.

some flights are being cancelled, so if you have a flight in or out late today or tomorrow, be sure to check it first. This is for the coastal areas to be affected.

Since this storm is predicted to come ashore in southern New Jersey, the Atlantic City boardwalk may suffer great damage.

I wonder if the casinos will close.
