Mike Pence’s Team Propose Quick Execution for Mass Shooters

Coming from the pro-life VP.
You comparing an innocent child, to a mass murderer?

"Pro-life" makes no distinction.

Great. None of the kids we kill in other countries ever get these choices.
Obama did kill a good many of them with his drone attacks.

He did and the Trump/Pence administration is still doing so. They all deserve nothing better than to rot in hell.

Any semi-automatic gun can be used for a mass killing.
But those with large interchangeable magazines are much more efficient than this one, for example.

Those are more productive for long distance shooting. Most mass shootings take place at close range, and firing into a group of people doesn't take much aim.

Magazine size is irrelevant since you can change a magazine in about two seconds. If practiced, less than one second.

Most of these guys either kill themselves or expect to be killed by cops. They don't care. If it was a public execution it might even encourage them.
precisely....

the death penalty is not a deterrent, and never has been.... Texas and Florida would have zero murders if it were....
The death penalty makes us feel good. Of course, it has its sensible side--if you are going to keep an animal locked up for 40 or 50 years, you're paying to house and feed him all that time. But the amount of money that we spend defending appeals to their death sentence wipes out any $$ profit we might get from executing a criminal as soon as he's convicted; I hear the average appeals drag on 20 years?

In 1953, death row had 131 inmates, and 62 of them (47.33%) were executed. In 2013, death row had grown to 2,979 inmates (a 2,174% increase), and 39 of them (1.30%) were executed.

The average time on death row more than doubled from 6 years and 2 months in 1984 to 15 years and 5 months in 2013.

The primary reason inmates left death row is because their sentences or convictions were overturned (58.2%) and not because of execution (24.8%).

Our charts detail the number of death row inmates, executions, and average time in prison, as well as the primary reasons for removal from death row.

Death Row Inmates, 1953-2013 - Death Penalty - ProCon.org

58 percent of those who left death row, left because their convictions were over turned... wow.... don't know what that translates in to numbers of persons, but still...

Most of those overturned were from cases ruled on many years ago where we didn't have the technology that we do today. Today we have cameras everywhere and our forensic science has made major breakthroughs the last decade or so.

If you are found guilty of murder today, chances are you are the one who committed the murder.

And that's why it's not a deterrent when it should be. Do you really care what happens to you in 15 or 20 years from now? Not many do. In that time, you may get a lib Governor who will create law against the death penalty. You may die before that day comes anyhow.

I always thought the death penalty should be decided on by the family of the victim.

Back in the 1920's if convicted of murder you had 13 months for any appeals and then....ZAP!...Sounds like a plan that should be expanded to all death sentence felony convictions!
This is the only thing that will stop nutcases from going out and killing Americans. Swift punishment, no media exaltation followed by three hots and a cot for the rest of their lives.

The Department of Justice has drafted legislation that would expedite capital punishment for those found guilty of mass killings, according to a top Trump administration official.

Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff Marc Short told reporters Monday that the veep’s policy team has been working with Attorney General William Barr on the death penalty bill, which will likely be part of a larger gun control package the White House will try to sell to Congress amid a wave of shooting massacres, including the latest rampage in Texas that killed seven people.eVice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff Marc Short told reporters Monday that the veep’s policy team has been working with Attorney General William Barr on the death penalty bill, which will likely be part of a larger gun control package the White House will try to sell to Congress amid a wave of shooting massacres, including the latest rampage in Texas that killed seven people. He means the ones who don't kill themselves right? I'm pretty sure that pre meditated murder is already good to go for the death penalty in most states anyway.

Not here. In Ohio, you can't get the death penalty unless it happened in the commission of another crime like robbery. If you just kill somebody out of anger like in a domestic situation, no death penalty for you.

What a load. What a maroon. Anyone with any firearms knowledge will laugh at the assertion mag size is irrelevant when it comes to mass shootings.

You are a criminal loving liar.

Chicago PD Made 53 Weekend Felony Gun Arrests, Judges Let Them Out Of Jail [/i]

Chicago police took 56 illegal weapons off city streets and arrested 22 people on gun charges between Friday and Sunday.

SO which is it? 53 or 22?

That's weird. So if I rob a 7/11 and shoot the clerk that's a death penalty case for sure, but if I shoot up a populated place and they find a bunch of stuff that showed I planned to do that for weeks the state can't/won't bring the death penalty?

Or it takes 30 years to carry it out. Unless you shoot a cop then it only takes 15.

Pretty much, plus if you plead guilty to a murder of any kind, they usually won't seek the death penalty. While they reinstated the death penalty years ago, it isn't used enough. If it were up to me, all murders outside of manslaughter would be DP cases.
