Mia is unique because she is black in an overwhelmingly white state with a very poor race record prior to 1978. She is LDS, which is a tremendous asset in Utah. A former mayor of a very dysfunctional communtiy, Saratoga Springs, west of Orem Provo, almost all white and lower to upper middle class, seh is certainly marketable. In her own primary, she has to get through Scott Sandstrom, a formidable competitor, as well as an all time righty weirdo, Carl Wimmer ~ this guy is truly crazy. If she survives and wins the GOP primary, she will be up against Dem. Scott Matheson, a well-liked and 4-term moderate Democrat.
