Marijuana likely to be legalized in 5 more states this November

I sit here in a hotel room in Clinton, MS having a Tito's... perfectly legal. And I have no intention of going anywhere,. Smoking weed? doesn't matter. I'm going to jail. And for the record, I don't touch weed. The whole thing is hypocritical.
Nice. I guess Tito's is bigger than I thought.

Cool we agree.. to bad more of us couldn't be more reasonable and separate the craziness. We're probably not that far apart!

There were a lot of stoners in Oregon. They we're pleasant but brain dead. The pot is being tailored so people can maintain at a job. Tattoos and piercings which I don't care about unless they are serving me food. The pot is becoming increasingly potent. Not something that should be a daily habit, although like most drugs you can develop you can develop a resistance to it with constant use. Comfortably numb for sure.

Just explain to me how to keep it away from those under 18, cause this stuff does have a detrimental effect on young brains.

In every ballot measure the law remains the same for minors. Still illegal

It is just a matter of time before it is legalized nationally. It is far less harmful than alcohol and it doesn't cause anyone to get violent. To the contrary you laugh uncontrollably if a fly lands on your knee.
The Trump Administration along with the republican congress will invoke federal law against these states and start arresting dope sellers.
Maybe. Tyranny was the way of the land with marijuana up until just a few years ago.
The federal law has not been repealed reefer-mad Obama just didn't enforce it. president Trump will and he'll go after sanctuary cities too. Drug users will fill our prisons once again. It won't take long.

Doubt it. Trump hates wasting money. And the war on marijuana is a decades long, multi-billion dollar total waste.

You put three governors and the mayor of Washington DC in prison and those Dope Stores will be closed before lights out in Leavenworth that day. Minimal cost to fight the war on drugs with big returns.

You want drugs? Repeal the federal law by congressional vote. You believe federal law trumps state law. On this, you're a hypocrite it seems.

In a month it will be 8 governors :321:

So, there goes the republican support for states rights.

Out the window when it involves something they do not support :/

A Trump presidency wouldn't go after pot. Even tough talking prosecutor-guy Chris Christie just signed a bill approving medical marijuana as a treatment for PTSD.
Yeah I don't think Trump will go after it. He's as far from being a social conservative as it's possible to be. Well, disregarding all the anti-minority stuff anyways.
This.

In most ways, Trump is more of a democrat than Hillary. If he wins, he is not going to have to pretend anymore...

That may be tree but punishment is not enough for sellers. At least half if not three quarters of the kids in this county are users. It is sad to see the flame in these kids eyes getting diminished.
It is sad to see the light dim in young folks, but in Colorado they say the # of kids using pot has not increased since the legalization of recreational marijuana. I don't think quite as many kids as you think are using, but however many are, it's a problem.
I live in one of the states which will be voting on it this year. Around here it has hardly caused discussion; we've got bigger problems with heroin in our high schools. And no, legal marijuana would be no more of a "gateway drug" than Budweiser is. Our state stopped jailing people for pot possession (unless it's a lot) years ago. It's a fine like paying a traffic ticket, if they bother with you at all. So the big difference if the law is passed would be that it would be sold in stores instead of by your neighborhood drug dealer (that's actually good, in my book). The only worry I hear about frequently is that edible marijuana products like gummy bears could get ingested by little ones, and that the marketing seems to be focused on young people.
Although kids using drugs and getting dependent on them is a worry everywhere, I don't think legalizing marijuana will make things worse.

I forgot, I am just so stupid. Please educate me on what I don't know about marijuana old school.
The kids are alright. My daughter's entire life has been spent in Humboldt County, marijuana capitol of earth. During 12 years of attending school functions leading up to HS graduation in June, I've been constantly impressed with the kids. My daughter says she doesn't like pot. Lots of people don't like the effect. Now, my greatest fear for her in her first year of college is drinking.

I like weed. I appreciate being able to grow it without fungicides or pesticides and smoke it legally. It enhances my life, which I enjoy and am grateful for every day.

Those are good replies guys, and I do see some kids able to resist. But I know in my case had I been smoking pot at 14 I would not have been an honor student. And I believe most humans have an addictive personality that is no different than video games or texting or drugs. At a young age most don't have the discipline to say no or wait to the weekend or whatever. In college 45 years ago you could get a bag of Mexican and smoke all night long. And it was a big bag. The stuff I found in Oregon at a bonafide shop is like two or three toke material. The edibles are inconsistent and hard to gauge. My piece of candy didn't kick in for four hours and then it was very potent. Another one didn't kick in at all.and anyone that doesn't think about ten percent of the young pop is stoned there while they are working hasn't been around many drugs.

The concern isn't about every kid but if just 25 percent of kids become steady users it is a problem. They have a drink responsibly law, they need a toke responsibly law. And how long, they probably have it now, before they have a breathalyzer or a roadside blood test for drivers? I know just say no doesn't work for drugs or sex, but a common sense approach to creating peer pressure and an educational blitz about the proven neurological and brain damage effects of youth smoking is not too much to ask.

And let's be real. If your life is boring and dull, if you are always broke, if you are depressed, or if you are not fitting in or are getting hammered on Facebook you are going to look for an outlet. Old lady talks about heroin, here it is about meth. You can't find a job and you're living with your parents or just alone in general you are going to reach out for something that dulls the pain or makes you feel good. We can at least try for our kids not to make drugs the refuge of first choice.

Legalizing mj in CA is polling at or over 60% yes so it looks like this will pass. And as they say, "as California goes so goes the country". It will be coming to a state near you very soon.

Sellers of Doritos and other snacks are stockpilling large quantities in local high school gyms to get ready for the onslaught. (not really but they should be)

He only hates wasting his own money. Other people's money, that's a whole 'nother smoke.

I know this is an old post, I just had to make that pun. :smoke:

A poll fielded last week of 500 likely voters in Nevada found the legalization measure there leading with 57 percent support, compared to 33 percent opposing it. That number is sharply at odds with a Review-Journal survey of 800 likely voters, fielded at the exact same time, which found the legalization measure leading by just 1 percentage point, well within the margin of error.

Just wanted to chime in here...the Review Journal is a fucking joke, and should be totally ignored. When they ran a negative article about billionaire Sheldon Adelson, multiple casino owner, he decided to BUY the Review Journal so that they couldn't do that anymore. It's a hack publication now, and he's firmly against marijuana, mostly because his son died of a drug overdose (which is understandable.) He's also a major Trump supporter, and in fact, donated an incredible $25 million to the Trump campaign.
