There are a great many racists and bigots in this country. It does not matter what group you bring up, there are racists and bigots everywhere and in every group.

I don't think it's racist, necessarily, to say "no amnesty." It is probably impossible to run on this issue in a general election and get 270 EVs.

And that is why even the concept of immigration reform has been a failure for every republican. Many if not most of republican voters, and even many of the tea party, are incapable of considering the topic of immigration without being enraged by the media and politicians who use immigrants as a tool to further their careers.

Some people just don't have the capacity for reason. They are entirely driven by emotion.
