Nope. The Law of Nations didn't include any mention of 'natural born' anything until about 10 years after the constitution was ratified. Leaving English common law as the only plausible (and probable) basis for the founders understanding of 'natural born'.

Nope. Arthur was perfectly eligible. In fact, issues of his eligibility didn't come up until a rumor circulated that he hadn't been born in the US, but Canada. His Canadian/Irish father didn't raise so much as an eyebrow in terms of his eligibility as its a non-issue.

You have no plausible or even probably definition for 'natural born' that requires parents. While I have both a plausible and probable source for 'natural born' being those born in the US: English Common Law.

Which is why your definition finds very little support. While the USSC, precedent and Congressional Studies on the topic all align with what I believe. Or perhaps more accurately, my beliefs reflect History, Precident, the rulings of the SCOTUS, and congressional studies.

The Supreme Court of the United States has never applied the term “natural born citizen” to any other category than “those born in the country of parents who are citizens thereof”.

Rubio's parents were not citizens when he was born. He is a statute citizen. A statute citizen (bestowed by mans pen) can never be made into a natural born citizen (bestowed by God/nature).



From Rep. John Bingham, father of the 14th Amendment:

"Every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.” (Cong. Globe, 39th, 1st Sess., 1291 (1866))"


Again, Rubio's parents were not naturalized U.S. citizens when he was born and had not taken the oath of allegiance.

All of us learned in our civics classes that anyone who is born in the United States can aspire to grow up and be elected President of the United States.

The United States rejected the class system of Europe where a parents status limited their children's prospects. Only if the parents are diplomats for a foriegn government does it matter.

Which is why Birthers were always such a laughing stock- all Americans know this stuff.
