Why glorify criminals?

When we have a statist government that bans things like gambling, prostitution, recreational drugs, and alcohol, you're going to have profiteers willing to break the law to provide those things to a willing public. They will either fight each other over territory and it will be chaos, or there will be organization, i.e. organized crime. Police like it because they may not trust some street dealer or pimp to take their money to turn a blind eye, but an organization run by professionals can be more relied on.

Legalize all those things, but still have a government that spends money for the sake of spending it, and you will still have criminals waiting to bribe government officials to steer contracts this way or that.

Moral to the story: more government = more organized crime.
